After 5th Fit Recall, Honda Slashes Executive Pay - Why Don't Other Companies Follow This Example?
Honda Motor Co., after announcing a fifth recall of the redesigned Fit in just 12 months, has taken the unprecedented step of appointing its first quality czar to clamp down on problems.

The company’s top executives will also receive pay cuts for three months to take responsibility for the recall-plagued car. The Fit was recalled Oct. 23 for a fifth time since its 2013 debut.

Accountability? An amazing concept. The rank and file are typically held accountable, but the executives rarely are.

This makes me respect Honda quite a bit more.

Exactly.. The common fear is if they are punished they might leave for another company. Well if they make crap on their watch then let them leave, it will be someone else's problem.

I read the article and took notice of how many "firsts" there were in this re-design; seemed like a new car practically. As for executive taking a hit, beyond the pay cut, I like the fact that it was publicized so that there's no hiding for these executives.

The problem is with the American mentality. The American mind is all just about profit, so basically, you can save money just by removing safety? Go with it!

And this is the American way. Aka Third world country way.

Now we all know why the U.S. will always be a developed country-wannabe compared to the European nations.

Not really. I remember an American guy asking for sex to European girls, and only one girl said ok.

That's not really called "easy"

The designers should also be made to take a permanent pay cut for coming up with ugly cars.
