Jay Leno's Garage is known for showing us things we may have not known about previously. This is proven with the video I am about to show you today.

Although some of you may know of Don Panoz if you're a racing fanatic, his production cars are not seen very often. That's because there aren't many of them on the road. Seeing an Esperante on the road is like seeing a Unicorn.

While its exterior styling may be dated and its interior kit car-ish, it is a vehicle built for super enthusiasts that lust for speed and speed only. The Spyder GT prototype seen in the video below produces just over 475 horsepower from a Ford 5.0-liter V8, but if you so desire you can go crazy with a 5.4-liter supercharged V8 good for 800 horsepower.

Right, and most people don't live in the Atlanta region nor read the Dupont Registry, which is where anyone would have previously seen Esperantes for sale.

The Esperperante was a really nice design under the skin. Unfortunately most people by based on looks. That in my opinion is why they didn't sell better than they did. It just wasn't good looking compared to other cars in the performance and price range.
