Review: Jaguar XKR gets the verdict

"Like too many Jaguars of the past 30 years, the old XKR relied on charisma to cover its crudity. Although it dressed in modern designer clothes, its chassis had been conceived in the time of Dick Nixon. And while its style appealed to a baby-boomer generation that had grown up lusting after the Jaguar E-Type, it was never a threat to the German sport coupe hegemony."

All jag's are ugly especially the sports cars. I think the bottom of the car curves in way too much making the tires look like their protruding out even more. Ford designers must love this idea because so much of their designs do this like the GT and some mustang models. So unappealing!

What a stunner! For the type of driving I do, I would seriously consider this over a 911.

Another stunning example of Ford's relentless pursuit of stupidity. Ford should have let the Jags die off in peace years ago.

Underwhelming?

This car is EXACTLY what Jaguar needed. A handsome, well-built sports car with classy dynamics.

Oh, and sixthcents007 is mentally challenged. I saw him on 60 minutes pretending he knew stuff about cars. Gave me a chuckle.

Really? How so?

Dynamically the XKR is on par with all of the above, while offering a handsome, and classy alternative to the German set, all of which lack the 'specialness' of the Jaguar brand.

I wanted to love this car. Really, I did. It's getting great preformance reviews. I saw several in person and I just feel that they dropped the ball with the headlights. IMO they completely throw off the front end.

Did anyone actually read the article? It was positive.

Will-

And the SC can?

It's just too hard to resist.

The XK is better than the 6 Series, and nearly matches the 911/SL, but the SL550 has blasted away from the rest.

IMHO it's gorgeous.

the xkr is also a heck of a lot cheaper than the sl.

I meant the XKR was gorgeous, but the SL is, too, just aging a bit. Who needs an SL550 when you'll be able to get a CLK550 soon, which is just as pretty (I use that term femininely), even though it has a ragtop instead of a hardtop?

There's not much of a significant downfall-- you'll just pretend it's your wife's.

MY wife's dream car is a CLK500 in gold over beige, and I have the means, but she won't allow me (or herself) to buy into temptation because we already have a mighty fine convertible.
