CAR WARS! USED Edition: Would YOU Rather Have A Porsche 911 (996) OR A Ferrari 328 GTS?

CAR WARS! USED Edition: Would YOU Rather Have A Porsche 911 (996) OR A Ferrari 328 GTS?
If you're a gearhead with money burning a hole in your pocket and you're looking for a toy, you've got a lot of options if you're open minded. Sure you could go find a completely mint E46 BMW M3 or Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG, but why settle when you can get something a bit more moving.

In this clip, Auto Express decided to put two icons on the drag strip: the Ferrari 328 GTS and Porsche 911 (996) Carrera 4S.

While the Ferrari is MUCH older, you cannot deny that the Italians know how to build a vehicle that will make your heart pump pure lust. The Porsche, which is MUCH newer, is the kind of car that you buy and have some confidence it will take many more years of heavy use. And, because the 996 is the red-headed stepchild of 911s, we're betting you can find a really nice one in great shape and have room for modifications — I just found a local 2004 C4S for $40,000 with 20k on the odo.

So, WHICH would YOU rather have? The Italian or the German?

Listen to the roar as these incredible machines face off on the drag strip!

Hands down: Porsche. Old Ferraris are nightmarish for parts and service.

I think most people will agree:

Your mind says Porsche, your heart says Ferrari. Except make mine a 355...

The Ferrari put up a good fight but with decade older technology it really did not have much of a chance. It really shows how much performance has improved. That 996 is relatively slow by current standards as performance has taken another dramatic leap in this last decade.

Unfortunately your not going to able to touch a "really nice..in great shape" 328GTS for $40k anymore. That car is currently $60-90K and most collectors agree may trend higher. After the Countach and Testarossa its the typical 80's childhood poster dream car.
