VIDEO: How Do Potential Buyers Of The ALL-NEW Mazda MX-5 REALLY FEEL About The Latest Miata?
The Mazda MX-5 Miata is a legend. There's good reason for this. It's cheap, fun to drive and easy to modify. For folks on a budget, it is the go-to choice for a track day toy.

In addition, it's also done quite well among young female professionals who want a fun rag top. All in all, it's a product that's always getting attention from enthusiasts and normal in-market consumers.

So, now that the company has revealed an all-new model, what do folks think? While it doesn't stray too too far from its roots, the car certainly will make a new impression on people. The little details are interesting.

Some commentors have said it looks great, others not so much.

A publication in the U.K. has been hosting preview events where it brings in potential buyers for the new set of wheels and essentially polls them for their opinions. I've noticed the videos are typically lacking criticism, but take it for what its worth.

The 2015 Mazda MX-5 was revealed at the 2014 Paris motor show, and a team of What Car? readers have had a chance to take a look around the new roadster.

Mazda makes the ultimate driving machines.

Not BMW.

They should do an RX5 with a hot rotary engine in place of the tepid motor in the Miata, then it might be taken seriously. A Mazdaspeed5 with a 2.5 turbo is desperately needed.

Of course the faithful love it, but if you look at the people who were talking about it you had hairdressers, castrated men, and a soccer mom extolling its virtues. NONE of them are sports car people and that is why the Miata will never be taken seriously as a sports car by sports car enthusiasts.

they need to offer a coupe version, and then more power. alternatively, that could be the basis for a new RX-7

Yes to both and that would place the RX7 where it should be i.e. in the GT86/Mustang V8 price range.

I cannot wait to see the FCA version. Graft on the ugly Edsel face of the 4C and this gets even more hilarious.

I completely dislike the way this thing looks. It looks like a kitty cat. Like some sort of anime character or something. It will have loads of appeal to many people, but I prefer my sports cars a bit more "macho". Which the Miata never was, so it's not like I was expecting it to be anything other than what it turned out to be. I suppose Mazda knows what they're after and I think they'll get it.

Hoping Honda gets an S2000 replacement going at some point or another. And that the Subaru/Toyota twins get some serious updates soon.

I think this car looks a lot more aggressive than the outgoing model. True the Miata has never been very macho. I think this is a step in the right direction. Further being that this thing is so light 155 HP should be quite effective over the outgoing models 167 HP. It should be quicker (prediction-0-60 in 6.0 to 6.2 seconds). It should also handle better. This is not too far off an S 2000 in performance and on par with the Toyobaru twins. It should sound better than then that engine as well.

I agree that they need a coupe version version and the 2.5 to be a serious contender. It will probably sell pretty well anyway but just like the RX7, it could have ruled the world if it had been available with a different engine. Please, no more baot anchor rotary's.
