STUD OR DUD? Cadillac's M4 Buster The 2016 ATS-V Coupe - LEAKS OUT
The goal here is to wipe out the BMW M4. Dethrone it as the benchmark high-performance luxury coupe, if you will. And Cadillac may very well have done just that. Presenting the 2016 Cadillac ATS-V Coupe, brought to us by these leaked and somewhat low-res images. As predicted, power comes from a 3.6-liter twin-turbo V6 that spits out 450 horsepower and 445 lb-ft of torque. It’s mated to a six-speed manual (real driving enthusiasts row their own gears) while an eight-speed paddle shift automatic is optional. All that power is sent directly to the rear wheels.

Pretty nice-looking in photos. Will have to wait until I see it in person in January or something. The manual trans might be an older one (not the new 7sp in the Corvette), but the auto is almost certainly the new 8-speed and that thing is really nice. I have the 8-speed and it's a really great transmission, super smooth and quick but becomes aggressive as soon as you want it to.
I expect the ATS-V to outperform the M4. I'm sure people will make all sorts of recall jokes since it's a GM vehicle but I also expect the ATS-V to have a lower total cost of ownership.

Totally agree and would even consider one but have to wait for the next C63 AMG coupe first which in current 507 guise outperformed or matched the new M4 and RS5

Very nice, price it right and I would be willing to buy one.

It might have the specs to compare to an M4, but the sheet metal says "ordinary American car, and not easy on the eyes."

Ordinary is your opinion. This car is very good looking as is the ATS in general. you see one on the street and its unique and special among all the other boring cars. I see BMW's & C Class cars all day and in comparison this looks special. Lexus don't even enter my mind. Boring, uninspiring, appliances... I imagine this car will reward the driver with a very exciting experience. I think Cadillac is focused on that... they need to improve their very substandard dealer Customer Service though and replace sales people that have done it the same way for decades....

wow . alot of you on here complain the M4 is too busy. This is over the top. Plus it is smaller than the M4, wouldnt that make it more of a direct comparison to the upncoming M2

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I personally think it's disgusting inside and out. But the performance may be "up there" with the M4, let's wait and see.

Hyundai and Cadillac both have something in common.
Hyundai tries to focus on luxury to stay relevant.
Cadillac tries to focus on sportiness to stay relevant.
Unfortunately, no one in the world sees something American or Korean as something "luxurious" or "high-performance"
Just like how the Cadillac CTS-V was all about ads and was a big fail in general, highly doubt this ugly thing will do much.
The only ones who can do good in the automobile world are Europeans and the Japanese. And the Americans and the Koreans wish they could be that, but no.

BimmersNme, y agree, but in my case I prefer the ATS, but I would be happy with any of them, most like you don't but still nice car. Finally not an M2 competitor, different category.

As soon as you drive it off the lot you lose 50% value. I'll take the highest longest quality vehicle the RCF.....

Same Caddy turd with a different name plate glued onto the side.
When is Cadillac going to have a new look instead of using this DREARY OLD TIRESOME 10 YEAR OLD design?
Slumping sales of Cadillac have force them to SHUT DOWN the Lansing factory. The public is not buying this worn out phoney baloney design.

This is a huge score. It's 100% American and is a premium muscle car rather than another insipid BMW chaser.

this car is ok, but id DEFINITELY have to put the M4 in first place as the car id want most, followed by the rs5, c63, rc-f then ats-v.
performance im sure will be great, just in the looks dept, something doesnt do it for me.. yeah i like the ugly RC-F more..

Don't like any of the V elements at all. The previous CTS-V were almost perfect though but the hood, bumper and trunk look terrible at least in these first photos.

Don't like it as much as previous Cadillac designs and from side view the C-pillar makes me think Toyota. I owned a first generation CTS-V and wasn't happy with build quality and fit/finish. Never got to drive a second gen CTS-V, but I think they did a much better job on it and its various iterations (coupe, wagon). Don't think the new ATS measures up and I think the new M4 looks nicer. Performance wise, we shall see. Disclaimer: I owned an E46 M3 before the caddy and have gone back to BMW since with an E90 335i (2009) and now an E90 M3(2011)

This is nice, Caddies are the last truly American designs as other GM marques have become Korean, Japanese or German copies. I have never forgiven BMW for dumping Rover when they had the first real Rover, the excellent 75, for many years after the Honda wilderness. Bimmer drivers seem to be similarly impatient and rude and their cars are invariably ugly and vulgar in my opinion.I would certainly prefer the Cadillacl.

Looks like GM/Cadillac design gave up from the B-pillar rearward.
Cadillac can beat BMW on price, but not looks!
People that buy M3/M4s buy BMW, those that want to be different buy the AMG and a few will buy Cadillac V to be extra different.
Buy the sedan, don't reward GM for poor design by buying the coupe.

I think I see what the problem is with the styling of the ATS, it needs about 4-6 inches cut off the entire bottom of the car, this would push the wheel wells up by a similar amount. Something about the wheel size side slab look has always been a bit off on the ATS in my view. What do you think?
