Cadillac Trademarks CT2 to CT8 and XT2 to XT8 Nameplates

General Motors’ most luxurious brand is hard at turning around its ways of doing business. In recent years, the American carmaker launched the ATS and revamped CTS, as well as a posh new-gen Escalade, but the near future holds a lot more in store for us.

You might remember that our carparazzi spied an upcoming flagship sedan from Caddy dubbed the CT6. Then they spied the SRX’s replacement, which is believed to adopt the XT5 name. But here’s the thing - Cadillac announced that it will rebrand its entire lineup except for the Escalade with CT and XT names.

This renaming thing has got to stop. These car companies are trashing the model name equity for some new alpha-numeric hyperbole.
Someone needs to set an appointment to meet with the Lincoln Motor Company marketing people to see how that little experiment went for them.
No one is going to know what a CT6 is. I also noticed that they are keeping the Escalade name, wonder why?

Great cars will overcome bad names. I'm not sure Johan de Nysschen understands the correlation. Focus on bringing phenomenal products to the market first, then worry about the names later.

If he was so brilliant he would still be at Audi. It's quite clear Infiniti kicked him to the curb and he made it look like he left rather than suffer the ignominy of being fired.

He is a smart guy. He didn't want to live in Detroit (I mean, who does? LOL!), so moved Caddy to NYC. Great move, as NYC is the only world class American city in all of America, when Europe has tons and tons of super major world class cities that are loved by super rich people all around the world.

But the name thing, to be honest, let me see the cars first and then let us talk about it later.

De Nysschen is such complete moron and this level of idiocy will kill Cadillac.

The naming scheme isn't his. There's more than one idiot around Cadillac.

@Sciros you're a de Nysschen apologist? really? do you have a shrine built to him in your bedroom?

@Darringer Say what? "The naming scheme isn't his" is a FACT. It is the brainchild of Uwe Ellinghaus, Cadillac's Chief Marketing Officer. "There's more than one idiot around Cadillac" is my opinion. I do not see how your response makes ANY sense given what I typed.

The "C" in the logo name stands for Chevrolet which it really is.
