RUMOR: Porsche's REVISED 911 991 MK2 Set To Appear In 2015, BIG Changes Slated
The latest news swirling around the revised Porsche 911 have everyone talking. That's because it involves taking its naturally aspirated, and much loved, six-cylinder motors and slapping turbochargers on them.

There's just one problem with that: it will undoubtedly dilute the greatness of the stellar 911 sixes. I don't think I've ever driven a turbo'd six that I adored its sound — the n/a 911 powerplants are like symphonies. The latest word on the street is suggesting power gains won't be as significant as first though — 15 hp across the board. If that's true, I don't think the juice is worth the squeeze.

Now according to Autocar, there's going to be a bit more improved on the Mark II 911 991s. Expect the usual front/rear clips to be modified as well as changes to the LED DRLs, but also the latest suggests there will be new infotainment displays similar to what's seen on the updated Cayennes.

Currently the vehicle's debut is guesstimated to be the Frankfurt Motor Show in September 2015.

The heavily revised 991 range is expected to make its debut at the Frankfurt motor show next September. The headline updates centre around the engines. A new range of turbocharged six-cylinder, horizontally opposed engines will replace today’s naturally aspirated units.

The base engine in the new 911 Carrera will have a capacity of less than 3.0 litres, which is a tax-sensitive threshold in China and other countries. The new engine gets an increase of approximately 15bhp over today’s 3.4-litre unit, taking it to around 365bhp. The output of the 991 Carrera S rises by a similar 15bhp, taking it up to around 415bhp...

Well, they did improve the sound on the 991 turbo S compared to the 997 turbo S. The former sounded like a hoover; the latter like a dyson vacuum cleaner, i.e. much classier sound.

Funny how the aftermarket guys can get the sound right on a Porche turbo. Guess they have less constraints.

What's the big deal???? There have been 911 Turbos since the Dinosaurs roamed the earth. So, there will just be more of them across the range. This is a big yawn!!

Rule to live with Porsche 911's...
"The more things change, the more the stay the same."

Don't expect anything earth shaking except a far higher price.
