JUST THE COLD HARD FACTS: Study Nails Down Why Millennials Don't Really Care About Cars
The only thing everyone agrees on about Millennial driving habits is that they're on the decline. As you'll see in the chart below, every American age group drove less in 2009 than in 2001, but the gaps were strikingly high in the 20- to 40-year-old segments of the population.

Unemployment has dropped drastically under the current administration. For fuck's sake do some cursory research instead of regurgitating right wing rhetoric.

Regarding the story, it's because cars are in any case expensive and there are other things that require significant cash flow without which life is measurably worse, such as broadband and smartphone data plans. Rent isn't dropping any time soon, and cities are becoming more and more bicycle and public transportation friendly. Plus younger folks are much more concentrated in urban areas than the older generations that live farther from the center of cities. So a great deal of millennials CAN get by without cars and therefore choose to.

You live in a fantasy world or just are really good at trolling. Poe's law makes it difficult to tell which. But you try to repeat the same thing on every page so I think it's a bit of both.

Why bother? Gas ain't cheap. cars aimed at young people are so ugly and the rich have this new ways of doing things, the richer they get the more they cut positions and slash jobs away or send them overseas.

bottom line ---- if no one takes care of them, they won't be able to contribute to the auto industry

Only 3.3% without a car. Millennial lower VMT is either choosing to live closer to workplace, which is facilitated when your renting, more use of public transportation, and/or less long driving vacations.

The price of higher education vs. the payoff eats into disposable income and yes for quite a few cars are for the most part a boring technology compared to other tech.

This isn't news.

So far as the political commentary goes, people will believe what they want to believe irrespective of facts. (The same seems to apply to other topics such as religion and opinions on cars.)

The big issue here is what does this mean for car companies in the future?
