Cadillac Plans To Doiuble Sales By 2020 - With Nysschen At The Helm Is It Possible?

Cadillac expects to double its global sales to 500,000 and double the number of models it offers by 2020, brand president Johan de Nysschen told investors Thursday in New York.

The former Audi and Infiniti executive has in his first three months at Cadillac decided to move its marketing headquarters to New York and described how far Cadillac must go to become a top tier luxury auto brand.

Speaking at the Barclays Global Automotive Conference in New York Thursday, de Nysschen laid out a series of changes he plans, including:

If GM gives him the budget to actually make their cars differently from the same ole tired ways GM build cars, this is possible. ATS-V and the pending CTS-V are the first steps. It can be done, but GM is far too impatient and short sighted. Time will tell.

Umm... on Sept 29th Autospies reported "De Nysschen Tells Cadillac Dealers They Will Be Selling Less But More Expensive Cars".

Presumably this is the Cadillac PR department working diligently to grab headlines.

They nailed that strategy with the ELR. If it ain't broke, don't fix... wait...

It's going to be a long road. They're going to have to sell less before they can sell more. I think the new CT6 will be a good indicator of whether this is rooted in reality or another GM pipe dream.

I'm truly hoping for the former. That car better rock!

I agree the CT6 needs to be insane. Mechanically it should be as the ATS & CTS are world class. All the luxury makes vehicles are very similar with their powertrains, layouts, and "quality" offerings. What will make each stand out is styling and of course Marketing. Doubling sales to 500K is possible with expanding the line up. If they're selling 250K now and add 4 more vehicles: the GMC Acadia based 3 seat crossover would bring in a lot of potential buyers, as would the new CT6. To a lesser degree a big coupe El Miraj (S Class Coupe, A9 Coupe, 6 Seies competitior. Caddy needs another halo car too so a Corvette based convertible that better than the XLR, and even a super car like the R8/MB AMG Coupe, etc... GM has got to get past this recall insanity too. I got another letter yesterday for an ATS recall, I've lost count. Also the dealer quality and the customer service has to change. Dealers that hire goofballs and goobers wont get it done. I agree with reducing their dealer base. fewer dealers should mean each will make more?

With de Nutsack at the helm douibling sales is the most likely outcome.

Caddy can not deliver value for the dollars spent by consumers. They are selling nothing more than warmed over Chevrolets. That is a fact.

This De Nysschen guy...Maybe that's how he keeps getting hired. He makes these insane promises with insane vision, but doesn't execute any of it, besides changing naming structures. Are companies doing the appropriate reference checks before hiring him?

— cidflekken; did you see what Audi did under his watch in the US? clearly you are clueless and have no idea what you are talking about. before you make dumb comments - read up and get some facts.

— skytop - you too are in the clueless category. VW owns Audi, Porsche, Lamborghini, Bentley, Bugatti and other brands and you don't hear people yelling a Porsche is nothing more than a dressed up VW? The sales #'s for each of the brands clearly says consumers will buy quality products regardless of who the parent company is. See Lexus as a great example in the US market.
