REALLY? Acura Claims TLX Has Vaulted Brand To Same Level As The Germans
With two full months of sales data behind it, Acura says the new TLX midsize sedan is beginning to fulfill its promise of reviving the luxury brand, whose U.S. sales and image have sagged in recent years.

Acura sold 4,890 units of the TLX in October, making it No. 2 in Acura's lineup, not far behind the MDX seven-seat crossover. October's sales were up 26 percent from September, the first full month of sales for the TLX, which reached showrooms in late August. Dealers say the car's driving characteristics are helping to lure shoppers from brands such as Mercedes-Benz and BMW.

The TLX has brought peace to the world.
The TLX has cured the common cold.
The TLX has solved the menace of flatulence.

So, where exactly does "Acura Claim(s) TLX Has Vaulted Brand To Same Level As The Germans"?

In the US market, except for LEXUS no other brand will be at the same level as the Germans; that is fact. Who buys an Acura anyways? Just get an Accord EX-L and save the money.

The BMW 3 series got so good, it circled all the way around to being crappy. Go by any BMW dealership and the 3 series models are languishing on the lots.

@leej: Are you sure that the 3 has declined? Is a 2014 3-series worse than a 2004 3-series? Or is it that the competition has stepped up their game a lot?

TheSteve,

Although the competition has gotten better, I would actually say that the 2004 3 series is better than the 2014 model, at least when it comes to fulfilling its claims. BMW used to stand for something. The Ultimate Driving Machine. Now, they softened it up to accommodate soccer moms and it's no longer aimed at "drivers".

He didn't say which Germans...he either meant the Germans driving Accords or the German homeless...

Unfortunately, the Americans and the Japanese both have this strong inferiority complex nowadays, as their cars are no longer considered as status symbols like they were back in the 90's or the early 2000.

Cadillac keeps saying they will be on the German level, ya right.

And now Acura? Come on.

It's sad, but we will have to live with this strong inferiority complex always. Who can honestly dethrone the Europeans? No one.

And then after Acura woke up from its dream, it looked itself in the mirror and saw a third tier "luxury maker."

Noticed about three years ago Acura commercials kept using the word "luxury" throughout the ads. As if they were trying to convince people, or themselves. Acura jumped the shark when it used Isuzu Troopers and badged it the SLX. Sad. Now a Honda Civic is rebadged the ILX.
