Spyshots of the new Chevrolet Caprice and Lumina

So this is my first post, and hopefully not my last. I was cruising in Dubai when I spotted a large car that looked somthing between a Audi A6 and the Bmw 7 series. What was it?

All I managed to read was "CAPRICE" just embossed behind some black tape. The photos are taken with a primitive phone camera so please bear with the quality. They have opted for the new LED brake lights and slightly more of some European styling.

Just then I saw the new Lumina drive by in the same black shield and just managed to capture one photo.The Chevrolet Caprice has chrome trim at the back and the Lumina has no chrome trim on the rear bumper.The main picture is of the new Lumina and the three below are the Caprice spy shots. It looks like an Impala, but it is a variation of the Australian built Holden.

That is definitely not in the US, maybe Canada. They are on the wrong side of the road, plus that white minivan is not sold here. Do Canadians drive on the other side of the road, eh?

This is NOT a Chevrolet. It is a Holden Caprice/Holden Statesman/Holden Calais. It is Austrailian Market.

Okay to clear it all up. The poster took this in Dubai, where IRRC the Australian Holdens are sold as Chevrolets Caprice and Luminas and are relatively popular.

It makes me wonder why Chevy doesn't sell it's nicer cars in the US. Get rid of the Equinox and give us the Captiva. Adventura looks nice too, is that basically a Monaro (Pontiac GTO) estate? If they give it the Monaro engine it would do well against the Dodge Magnum.

Revive Pontiac by selling the Berlina and Calias as the new Grand Am and Grand Prix.

And finally replace the Cadillac DTS with either the Statesman or Caprice.

Yup, GM sells Chevroltet's here (in Dubai) that are not your standard American styling and taken from the Holden / Opel range. Been seeing a lot of these test vehicles around, so I'm going to try nd capture some exotics under testing here as well.

Yeah thats a dual dvd system. Also the Holden Monaro is actually the Pontiac GTO, though I believe the Holden was being sold 2 years prior to the release of the GTO. Australians lending GM a helping hand?

Just to correct you, the Holden Monaro is a two-door Holden Commodore, which is Holden's variation on the Opel Omega (now discontinued).

The Monaro was shown as a concept in 1998, and went into production in 2002 (I think).

The Pontiac GTO is a re-badged Monaro, not vice-versa.

The only thing Pontiac about the GTO is the badge.

This is what GM needs in the States. No ifs, ands or buts about it. Why can't GM engineer cars for more than one market when their stateside offerings are so tepid? This seems like a no-brainer.
