Audi Conducting Feasibility Study To Determine If They Should Enter Formula One

Volkswagen Group is conducting a feasibility study on whether its Audi brand should enter Formula One to challenge rival Mercedes-Benz, a report said.

Ousted Ferrari team boss Stefano Domenicali is conducting the study, British broadcaster BBC said. Domenicali joined Audi Nov.1 with responsibility for "new business and mobility services."

Audi is "seriously" looking into an F1 entry, which could happen in 2016 or 2017, company sources told Automotive News Europe.

I think the internal thought (as given to the media) is hell no no way as long as Bernie is in charge. And that's a smart way to go about it.

Bernie's years are numbered. Hopefully by 2018 or so he will be gone from F1. As for Audi the international exposure and marketing of F1 is too great. Their DTM and LeMans experience partnered with Red Bull Racing would be quiet a force.

Wouldn't be surprised if BMW enters F1 again, last season BMW engineers were spotted on the paddock and in the garages of a few teams last year.
