I like the new C class, but in most situations it doesn't look quite as perfect as that photo!

Yea well that C Class just helped Benz outsell Audi globally for the month of November...

It makes sense, Mercedes has a solid amount of new product and the C is a great design. The scaled down S class styling is quite good (not S class good) but on the road in general they don't look as pretty as the one in this Mercedes photo. Here it's shot/edited so well that every crease stands out but you certainly don't get these light conditions very often.

It is the wheels. The make a HUGE difference on how this car look. That wheel makes it look perfect.

Agree Chewy - the rear 3/4 view is not pretty. The look of a tucked tail doesn't make it look stately.

I don't like the Buick looking steering wheel and the long dash layout in the S-Class, but they'll sell a bunch of them.

Mercedes-Benz outsold Audi by just 5K units globally for November - hardly anything for Audi to lose sleep over considering Audi has a lead of more than 100,000 units. Keep in mind that Mercedes has needed brand-new S-Class and C-Class models to achieve this. Audi is more than keeping up considering its A4, A5 and Q7 are very outdated models with brand-new replacements due in 2015 and 2016.

Wether it's 1k, 5k, or 10k when you've been on the market as long as Audi and have never held the global luxury sales crown you so aggressively talk about every year, you can't afford to sleep period.

When Audi holds the crown for half a century like Benz or at least 1 decade like BMW, then they can take a cat nap, until then they need to continue to do what they've done their entire existence, chase Benz and Bimmer

Mercedes certainly hasn't "needed" a new C or S to crush Audi in the US. Take China out of the equation and the global sales pictures looks much different, doesn't it. At one point Mercedes was the car of choice for government bureaucrats and the wealthiest Chinese. But when the government was accused of corruption, Mercedes was connected to that reputation and no longer were the bureaucrats car of choice. Now Mercedes is JUST the car of choice for the wealthiest Chinese, which says more about which product has the right level of prestige.

Sorry, cidflekken, you can't just "Take China out of the equation" regardless of the reason(s) for Mercedes-Benz's sales or lack thereof in China. Audi was also severely hurt in the U.S. market during the unintended acceleration debacle. These public relations nightmares happen and companies need to do the best they can to contain the fallout that ensues.

"Now Mercedes is JUST the car of choice for the wealthiest Chinese, which says more about which product has the right level of prestige."

Too bad Audi outsells Mercedes-Benz by a 2 to 1 margin in China. I can bet you Mercedes-Benz would gladly trade its reputation as "JUST the car of choice for the wealthiest Chinese" if it could sell the amount Audi does in China.

While we're at it why don't we just take the U.S. out of the equation for Mercedes-Benz and BMW and see where that puts the companies in relation to Audi?

The world is global and we can't remove countries from the mix to favor our particular views.

lol you would be fool to talk the longest running consistent super power in luxury sales, the US, out of the equation, by the way Benz doesn't have to trade places with Audi, they are growing in China at twice the rate Audi is this year and are maintaining their superior brand image at the same time....while holding down the U.S. at the same time...2015 will be a year of significant change in the luxury world...November was very telling and I'm sure December will be as well

Just wait until the new Audi Q7 hits the market along with the brand-new A4 in mid to late 2015. Audi's global sales will shift into over drive.

Mercedes-Benz might be growing at double the rate of Audi in China, but Audi is not sitting idle and is still outselling Mercedes-Benz by a 2 to 1 margin. Just wait until Audi's new models reach the market and then you'll see just how far Mercedes-Benz has to go to catch Audi in China.
