Next Gen BMW 5-Series Caught First The Very First Time

The next generation of the BMW 5-Series has been caught on camera in a premiere by our spy photographers as it has been testing recently on the road.

Despite not being that old, the current generation of the 5-Series will be replaced in the near future with a new model as our spy photographers have recently found out by catching it on camera, for the very first time. If this is making you happy and you can’t wait for the model to be introduced, you will be in for quite some wait because the vehicle will not be revealed before 2016, meaning that it will be offered as a 2017 model year.

Where's the "all-new" part? Is Mercedes the only Germans who are willing to go out on a bit of a limb with their styling choices anymore?

Exactly, I could buy a preowned A6 or 5 series and be good for at least 2 more generations, say what you want about Benz but it's nice to have a luxury maker create excitement and they aren't predictable between generations, the suspense is nice and cars like the CLA, while we auto enthusiast critique it for quality and materials, it is refreshing to have cars create so much buzz and excitement with the masses. Your then thankful because it shows the that auto industry is still alive and inspiring future generations to come...I'll get off my soap box now lol just venting...

A new model doesn't always have to be "out on a limb". Too many times these auto makers try so hard they make something unappealing. Not everyone wants these dramatic changes and there's nothing wrong with subtle changes. Ask that Bangel-CEO (gone now), how many diehard BMW owners liked that 7 series funky trunk. It went over like being bitten by a copperhead snake. Shed some weight on the 5 series, add some nice updates and I know I'll RETURN back to buying BMWs.

To me, new should mean just that...new, after plopping down $60k on a car I should not have to explain to the common man what makes mine different from the previous gen and it shouldn't take an enthusiast or eagle eye to recognize oh...he got the new one...

It's all about not getting too stylish for the Chinese.

Not sure about that, Benz, the stylish one, is growing twice as fast as its German rivals right now and is apparently the top choice of China's 1%.... Time will only tell, although China aided Benz in outselling Audi for November, while Benz other markets were relatively flat with slight growth.
