Chevrolet To Carry Over Corvette Design Elements Across Lineup

According to General Motors’ global design chief Ed Welburn, we should expect many subtle elements of the next generations of Chevrolet cars to show they relate to the make’s beloved sports car.

That means that recognizing elements of the Corvette flagship sports car could be ported to many of Chevrolet’s upcoming models, including the hood design or hexagonal taillights. According to the design boss, his team is currently working hard to have Chevy’s next generation of cars, some of them coming out as early as next year, treated with the same DNA as the most iconic nameplate of the automaker. “As Malibu and Cruze and Volt come to market, you’ll be able to see a subtle link for all of them and Corvette,” Welburn told Automotive News.

Those exhaust tips could be pretty cool, two on each side for something powerful like the SS but nobody buys that thing.

I rather not have TOO much carry over, personally. One thing I never liked about the R8 is that it looked too much like other Audis because of how many design elements it shared with far less interesting cars. But we'll see, maybe they'll do a good job with it and not take away from the Vette while adding to the rest of the lineup.

The predesign R8 taillights had the same design as the TT but that's really about it?

The Chevy Impala is a decent looking car. However the weakest design element are the rear tail lights. The don't match the car. I think more aggressive rear end design would properly finish off the vehicle. Taking design cues from either the Corvette of Camaro would make the most sense.

Should not do it, will cheapen the Corvettes looks and not really make the other cars more prestigious IMHO.

I agree with this.
