Did We Miss Something? GTI And Canyon Named Best Of The Best For 2015 By Autoweek
Autoweek, the auto enthusiast sister publication of Automotive News, today named the Volkswagen Golf GTI and GMC Canyon truck as its Best of the Best car and truck for 2015.

The GTI beat a group of finalists that includes the Alfa Romeo 4C, Ford Mustang and Mercedes-Benz C-class; and the GMC Canyon bested the likes of the Chevrolet Colorado, Lincoln MKC and Porsche Macan.

Autoweek evaluates every new or significantly updated model throughout the year and begins to identify the standouts. Performance, economy, fit and finish, design, value, significance to the auto industry and personal taste all combine to define the Best of the Best.

Four cars and four trucks make the grade, and Autoweek editors put them through rigorous road-handling tests at Michigan International Speedway in Brooklyn, Mich. This is where a vehicle transcends the numbers and shows if design, performance and pure driving passion meld into an Autoweek Best of the Best pick.

They were paid off by VW and GM. The lackluster new GTI and the laughable Canyon/Colorado are embarrassingly class-trailing designs.

Why are people surprised at the favorable attention the Canyon/Colorado are getting? There are tons of people out there that like, or can use, a pickup truck, but do not want either the SIZE or the PRICE of the current-day full-size pickup. Not too long ago, a full size truck was about the size of today's mid size. With the Tacoma and Frontier WAY behind in design and technology, this was a niche that was a great target and GM nailed it.

It'll be interesting to see how the new Taco compares when we see it in January.

VW, I don't give a crap about VW. The Golf GTI is for tools. If I want everyday drivability along with the sportiness of a GTI, I'll get a Subi STI and get a better drive system, higher quality, and a nicer community to go along with it.

I test drove the all new generation 2015 GTI. It is truly an amazing performing ride.
Add in the new interior space, heightened Tutonic quality and luxury features all for well under $30,000 and it is a no brainer to buy. The GTI is a winner!
