Google Targets Next Gen Android OS For In Car Use
Google Inc. is laying the groundwork for a version of Android that would be built directly into cars, sources said, allowing drivers to enjoy all the benefits of the Internet without even plugging in their smartphones.

The move is a major step up from Google's current Android Auto software, which comes with the latest version of its smartphone operating system and requires a phone to be plugged into a compatible car with a built-in screen to access streaming music, maps and other apps.

I feel sorry for the first developers of apps for this OS. With such marginal error trapping and inconsistencies API variation between OS variations it will be a nightmare for developers.

While in concept the fact you can modify aspects of the OS is great, The amount of modifications that actually take place make this OS as buggy (if not more) Windows.

With the flood of new low end Android devices using 4 year old component's to shave costs it is very possible you can plugin your new device and it simply won't work.
