Should Tesla Revive The Roadster?
It's been a while since we've heard anything about Tesla’s first model, the often troubled Roadster which, although far from perfect, still represented quite the improvement in EV technology. After all, it really only had to be better than the GM EV1 (that wasn’t too hard). In any event, Tesla CEO Elon Musk has just stated that a "fairly exciting update" for the Roadster will be announced sometime this week. Musk initially said back in June that a Roadster update was in the cards, but various "crisis issues" were delaying things.

Yes, the sportscar for sure, then a pick up, and a couple of different sized SUV's. Then some raised hatchback sedans to slot in between the SUV's, and a convertible. After that a convertible SUV-Murano type vehicle to compete with Nissan, a small city car, a motorcycle and a people mover that holds like 11 kids and has a vaccuum in it.

As other "posters" will note - I'm not the biggest advocate of Tesla's current business plan. However this is one segment that is their's to lose.

They should re-body the Model S into a "halo" sports car immediately - it could be a $300,000 version of the Ferrari LaFerrari, the Porsche 918, or the top-end McLaren (which all sell for $1,000,000+). The performance is basically already there within the Model S platform. They should not re-introduce the old lotus-based tesla, however - it needs to be a new body that is larger.
