Banking On The Longshot? Would You Ever Have Thought Chrysler Would Be The Biggest Success Story Of 2014?
As big bets on success go, Chrysler Group couldn't have been a tougher sell.

Chrysler emerged from bankruptcy in 2009 as a weak automaker with few new cars and trucks in its pipeline, leaving many to doubt whether the company could survive — let alone boost sales and gain market share.

But for nearly five years the automaker, which has been renamed FCA US, has done just that.

With enough money on the hood you can make any stale brand have sales gains. Audi...hello!

As much as I appreciate the picture that this article is trying it paint, when looking at the big picture, it's probably not as impressive as it sounds. Take Jeep (up 27%) and RAM (up 31%) out of the equation and it's a different story.

Chrysler is up 30%, but, as the article does state, it's primarily from the 200. The 200 sold 14k units in November, 3k (or 21%) of which were sold to fleet. (Didn't Chrysler announce last year that they were going to basically stop fleet sales?) And for a mainstream mid-size sedan that received significant press coverage, 11k retail units is not impressive.
Dodge is up 1%, but it's primarily from the Dart which is up 39%, probably from huge incentives. Evenso, 9k units in November pales in comparison to cars like the Civic and Corolla.
