DETROIT AUTO SHOW: SPIED + VIDEO — Chevrolet Continues Teasing The #NextGenVolt
Fire up your hybrids, Chevrolet Volt fans! The next-gen, 2016 Chevrolet Volt is just around the corner and General Motors has been showing us bits and pieces of the all-new electric auto to get you juiced up about it.

Although we're less than pumped, we've got a job to do.

Expected to appear at this year's 2015 Detroit Auto Show, the Volt looks like it will feature a much more streamlined design — it actually looks like a Hyundai Elantra from its side profile — that's a bit more aggressive and inspired by the Corvette, according to the latest reports.

But that's not what Chevrolet wants to prove to you just yet. It would rather tease its EV doing a little ice driving.

In the short clip below, I would hardly say that Chevrolet has put the all-new Volt through its paces; however, it is nice to see the vehicle has some agility at speed in the white stuff.

Now the real question is if the company has been able to do ANYTHING about the Volt's batteries losing their charge in colder temperatures...

The all-new 2016 Volt is designed to turn heads everywhere it goes--from the test track to the open road. And it's as quiet as it is powerful, providing an exciting and unparalleled driving experience.

So weaving back and forth at slow speeds shows agility?

Matt, have you driven on snow or an ice track?

Being that it's most likely FWD that's not easy to do...

FWD is inherently more stable on ice than RWD and literally ANY car with FWD could have demonstrated that "amazing" performance.

If you haven't driven on snow/ice with FWD, RWD, AWD and 4X4, please stop talking now.

I have driven on snow with RWD (Ford F150), 4x4 (Jeep Cherokee / the real one), and FWD (2 Jettas 1 Optima). We have snow close enough to us that we go. The F150 was a handful on very light snow (i.e. not requiring chains). The Jeep was by far the most stable, but the Jettas and the Optima weren't that far behind.

This year we'll take the Mercedes (wife's GL) if we go.

I don't drive on it often enough to base my car buying decision on best drivetrain for snow. Of course, you couldn't pay me to live in a place where that would be true.

Apologies for the name calling, but I'm hardly the only one doing it on this site.

Don't worry, Matt will tell you he is the best driver on ice in the US.

And no, Mr. Dickius Wadius, I do not drive on snow and ice, but weaving back and forth like an intoxicated sailor at 5mph doesn't scream performance.

1) Listen, you little twink, don't start with the name calling.

2) No one said it screamed performance. It's a brief clip that's to be appreciated for what it's worth.
