SPIED + VIDEO: The Camo Is OFF And A Spy Does A WALKAROUND Of The All-New Mercedes-Benz GLE Coupe
We've always been big fans of showing you all-new production vehicles in a variety of forms. First typically come the studio shots. Then some professional video. Next comes the real-life photos at an auto show. Following that may be some on street images snapped by an amateur or if we get lucky. Last, but not least are the videos of development cars or press vehicles.

Thankfully, someone abroad has gotten the chance to video the all-new Mercedes-Benz GLE-Class sport-utility vehicle as it sat in a parking spot. From what I can tell, it appears to be a developmental, R&D car that has had its camouflage removed.

Although we've bombarded you with plenty of studio shots, it's good to see it in video form.

As we noted in another post this week, video can help or hurt a vehicle's impression on potential buyers. The all-new Audi Q7 has certainly been an interesting vehicle to watch.

We're looking forward to seeing the GLE and Q7 at this year's 2015 Detroit Auto Show (NAIAS)!

I don't know if the nonstop extreme close ups are the culprit or if its the actual styling. It has awkward proportions, is over styled in some places (face for one), Camry bland in others (tail for one) and reminds me too much of a Honda Crosstour when all is said and done.

Maybe--for the sake of Mercedes that is--it will look better in person than it does in pictures and video.

The GLA looks much better in person for example.

As for the camera work: Owning a Nikon does not make one a photographer; it makes one a Nikon owner.

The video was decent, I honestly think the wheels on this model throw this particular GLE coupe off, more sporting alloys would compliment this coupe better, other than that I think it will be a solid vehicle for merc

Video can certainly help put a car's design in a different perspective, but only if it's done effectively. In this case, the close-ups and angles don't do much to put the design under a different light.

I think the GLE Coupe is a nice design, almost a more modern X6. I wish they were a bit more adventurous with the interior with it being a "coupe", but I guess this will be the same interior in the refreshed GLE.

I like it from the middle of the rear window forward, the rear seems really weak, a number of recent Mercs have had weak looking rear ends, kind of like the stylist worked hard all morning from the front back to the middle, then went to lunch, had too many Dopplebocks and just called it done.

This close-up video is more like a pre-lease inspection to validate that there are no damages on the vehicle before you drive it off the lot. Now, a video that would really showcase the styling of the GLE would be great. Let us know when you get one of those, please!
