STUD OR DUD? Mercedes-Benz X6 Fighting GLE Coupe SUV Caught In The Nude

Courtesy of the Mercedes-Benz Passion Blog we now have what could be the first photographs of the new GLE Coupe model, caught in photographs that depict the model’s production guise.

Numerous apparitions of the BMW X6 competitor show us that the third largest premium automaker in the world is getting ready to unleash the GLE Coupe into dealerships and following the video workaround that we brought you recently we have some accompanying photos of what essentially seems to be the same trim – there are numerous chrome additions to the front of the car and also we can notice the same alloy rims. The model is based on the MB GLE (what was until recently the M-Class) and is scheduled to make its first official public appearance during the 2015 North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) in Detroit in January.

Paint it bright yellow, and you have a short-bus, which is what I am guessing the designers rode to school.

Acura's ZDX was a major fail, which eventually ended production, but BMW X6 still sells well.

So, I'm sure this SUV will do well.

Agreed that the ZDX failed but the people that bought it absolutely loved it. I saw plenty of them in my town and still do. The GLE Coupe is a better execution of the idea, whereas the ZDX would have probably done better had it been executed like the A7, as a hatchback-coupe-like alternative to the TL (and priced accordingly), which, in effect, it was.

Nice looking MB looking more like a Hyundai masquerading as a Mercedes.

Not a good angle there but it looks like Mercedes' streak of good designs is over. The S class coupe taill lights look so out of place. There might be hope for it. The original X6 was a weird thing but it looked pretty purposeful on the road and had some presence. Maybe the MB can do the same.
