GM To Ring In The New Year With Class Action Lawsuit Over Volts That Fail To Steer
More than 100 owners and lessees of 2011 to 2014 model year Chevrolet Volts have filed a class action lawsuit against General Motors over an alleged steering defect, Autoevolution reports. The plaintiffs say the Volt’s steering will “freeze” while driving, making the car difficult or impossible to control.

The lawsuit was filed with the New Jersey District Court in early December and alleges GM broke several New Jersey state laws, including breach of warranty of merchantability, express warranty and common law fraud. The claims mount to a steep $5 million, according to plaintiffs Tara Follari-Johnson and Christopher Johnson.

One word, "American". If you buy junk from the land that is only capable of producing junk (And even inferior to Made in China products), you get....well? Junk.

It's not just the Volt, is it? Take a look at the new Corvette Z06.

http://www.motorauthority.com/news/1096096_first-2015-chevy-corvette-z06-engine-destroyed-with-just-891-miles-on-the-clock

Yes, at 891 miles, the engine of the brand new Corvette Z06 went out. Two words, "American Quality".

I mean, it's not like the Americans can even offer the technological marvels and the ultra luxury like the Germans, Italians and the British can, so I wonder myself, why do the American companies seriously think they can be the "German alternative" by offering unreliable junk? There is a difference between paying a lot for the maintenance of a status symbol (European luxury cars), and paying tons for the maintenance of garbage of all garbage (American). They even fail to be a "Chinese" alternative, let alone Japanese, and it's not even funny.

The reason why the Japanese were successful was because, even though the quality of their products has been going down nowadays, the Japanese still remain to be the standard of reliability.

So, if the Americans can not beat the Japanese, then they might as well just close down the business. I mean, there really aren't many things American nowadays, as many of rich Americans flee to Europe to avoid taxes, and the rich Americans much prefer Range Rover and Mercedes G Wagon, when they were not interested in Hummer at all (And what happened? It was gone, because no one cared)

And pretty much the automobile stuff is something that "kind of" remains to be American "somewhat", even though the ATS uses the chassis made by Holden of Australia and GM really needs Opel of Germany and Holden of Australia. And Chrysler can not survive without the Italians now.

Actually wait, I guess there really is no such thing as American anymore, especially when this dumb country gave up tons of jobs to other countries. And this country calls itself a "superpower"? Amuse me.

The ATS rides on a clean sheet design and not a previous Holden design. As for the country being dumb, tell them to stop electing the fascist socialists of the Left. :) Hell may have frozen over.

I watch this video whenever I feel sad thinking about the future of America.

I mean, this video really tells the truth.

Don't let facts get in the way of your emotional rants, but wealthy Europeans (and folks from other lands) come to the USA to escape Europe's higher taxes. They definitely hold US dollars as security. Not that your rants have anything to do with the topics under discussion. Take a hint from all the negative votes.

I'm pretty sure they are coming to the U.S. to avoid higher taxes, like how Burger King is leaving the U.S. to avoid taxes...oh wait.

And the U.S. Dollars as security? What era are you from, when the U.S. dollar dumping trend is on right now?

And deboosts have nothing to do with anything, when you are trying to convey the truth, unfortunately.

I already get that you are desperate to make stuff up in order to make yourself feel better (Like how your name already says you are a Vette fanboy), but I'm sorry friend, but truth just hurts, doesn't it?

Corporations pay lower income taxes outside the USA. Individuals outside the USA pay higher income taxes in those countries. Some (France) also pay a tax on their wealth besides their income. Hence the Euro stars living in the USA. US citizens who live outside the USA have to pay income taxes where they live and still pay US income taxes. No tax saving incentive to leave the USA.

Well,I hate to say it, but I don't doubt this at all. My friend got a brand new Volt about 2 years ago. The first 6 months were spent in the repair shop due to so many different quality issues. Eventually it qualified under the Lemon Law, and GM gave him a comparable trade. Needless to say he didn't get another Volt.

But I will say it was fun watching his drive around in his Aveo loaner car for a few months.

So, GM makes you pay tons for garbage like Volt, and the only loaner car that they could give him was Aveo?

Wow, that sounds a lot like an "American company".....oh wait, it is.

I'm actually glad I purchased a Toyota truck recently, which is like a real truck. I will probably get an Infiniti later on, but for now, I just want to keep this Toyota. The Japanese reliability sure is something I can always trust.

Psst. The Volt in the picture was crushed by a flying Camry while it was just sitting in its driveway:

http://insideevs.com/volt-vs-camry-no-spontaneous-fires-ensue-at-least-from-the-volt/

As far as the steering issue, it is not limited to the Volt, and it is not true that the car becomes difficult or impossible to control. There is no safety recall.

GM has already notified all of the owners.

Let me get this straight. You are judging a nation by what comes out of Detroit? I love cars but if you really think about it, cars are a box with 4 wheels. Even the poorest nations in the world are capable of building cars. However, not every nation can build a space shuttle, airplanes, stealth technology, drones, etc

Is Boeing, NASA, Lockheed Martin, Apple, Google, Yahoo, Internet, billion $ movies, military technology, pharmaceutical companies, space exploration, IBM, GE, numerous innovations, etc the product of STUPID PEOPLE?
You wouldn't be here commenting on a forum in front of a computer if it wasn't for American genius and innovation you fool.

I think you should stop watching Fox News and get with time.

Unfortunately, most of the companies you mentioned are not even doing all that great nowadays, like GE? Yahoo? Are you serious?

And I'm sorry, child, but it was the British who came up with the modern internet. Without the Brit, you wouldn't even be using the internet browser by now, son. Nice try, though.

And I'm sorry, "luxury" is not something that just can be made so easily. And "reliable products" also are not something that can be easily made.

But then again, you are happy with garbage like Tesla which is proven to be an American quality car in terms of reliability, so I am not surprised why you do not want to include cars here. Because you know you are ashamed, too! lol!

And you mostly mentioned a lot of nerdy stuff, too. I guess America is indeed a nerdy country lol! No class, but nerdy. Hmm, not bad, I must say ;)

How exactly do you come up with the internet if you don't have a computer? You are clueless my friend.
My name tesla is not for the car but for what in my opinion is the single person that is responsible for this modern world we live in... Nikola Tesla the inventor. A blind fool like yourself probably never even heard of him?
Your brain is wrapped around Japanese cars. What other contributions did the Japanese make to our modern society except rip off German technology so they can give you a "reliable" toaster on wheels?
Did they invent the car? Did they invent the combustion engine? Did they invent airbags? Did they invent crumple zones? What exactly did they invent that we are benefiting from and that we should be thankful for every day of our lives?

@tesla Ignore JDM. He doesn't know what he is talking about. Latest proof? The internet was invented by DARPA, a US government group of scientists (nerds), as a means of allowing them to work in collaboration with each other. Thanks to the operating system software invented by Apple, Microsoft, and Google consumers have the means to take advantage of it, as we are currently doing. Just deboost his inane rants.

I should have written modern computer with modern OS, so you that I don't get a complete computer history starting with abacus.
Is the internet the only one you have a problem with? You couldn't comment on space shuttles, Boeing, Lockheed Martin, IBM? If that is the product of stupid people than I want to hear about products from smart people. Is it Toyota, Honda, Nissan? Some other toaster on wheels?

Alert! The drivetrain heat management program has detected an anomaly and power will return momentarily. The program fails into energy saving mode while switching components cool down. The program will protect the drivetrain from incurring warranty service. Please plan ahead while steering and braking controls go into cool-down mode. No sharp steering corrections or braking manoevures will be possible during this mode. This is normal.
