HAPPY NEW YEAR! Killer Leak Of The First NAKED Photos Of The 2016 BMW 7-Series #NAIAS
Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery and the typically see the Germans imitated by a number of other brands. But did BMW take a good thing and try to make it even better by taking a page from the Kia 900 playbook?
We certainly like to think not, but our friends over at Bimmerpost have stumbled on a 2016 7 Series prototype and it doesn't take much more than a passing more glance to see a bit of Kia 900 in there. (Maybe its just us diping into the New Years festivities a bit too early.)
Lets hope this next gen 7 Series packs a serious punch to go with the new look so the Bimmer faithful can defend themselves in the school yard from those Kia bullies.
Below are some of the key details as we know it and be sure to click through for more images:
2016 BMW 7 Series fully exposed. Front end styling is a combination of the F30 and X5. Rear styling is clean and sleek with integrated exhaust outlets as seen on the test mules. Sporting optional laser headlights on this pre-production display model. LED lighting will be standard, with laser lighting as an optional upgrade.
The G11 next gen 7 series will be built on BMW's new module platform and feature the B family of engines. The chassis will borrow heavy from the BMW i3 and i8 for weight savings. The interior has the latest iDrive with a touch screen. The full details are expected to come out before the Geneva Auto show. In Geneva BMW will pull the wraps of this next gen 7 series officially.

Love the weight reduction, but this car looks boring, and the interior seem a generation behind.

Yikes, Kia actually made a better looking 7 series than BMW themselves did...embarrassing
Well, Merc dealers better make space as 7 series owners who were holding out for the new 7 are likely throwing in the towel now, see your local Bebz dealer for pre owned A8', 7'', and LS's

Looks like a pretty conservative next gen in light of what the S class has done, definitely a bit underwhelming from these photos. Hell of a spy shot though from a forum!

Where do I start? Somehow I'm compelled to say that this is what Lexus would build if it tried to copy the last gen 7 series. An opportunity was missed to craft an answer to the S-Class in terms of design. Couldn't they have used design cues from the Gran Lusso Concept? I sincerely hope they reflect on this and come correct next time.

The Mercedes-Benz S-Class will continue to dominate the BMW 7-Series by a huge margin globally. This new 7-Series has nothing going for it. The exterior is boring and looks just like the current version, the interior is lame and a step backward, the driving dynamics are not what they used to be and quite frankly this new model provides no reason for buyers to purchase it instead of the Mercedes Benz S-Class.
People criticize Audi for not doing enough with their redesigns. BMW is perhaps even more guilty of not taking any risks as this "new" model clearly shows. The difference between this "new" 7-Series and the current model is negligible at best.

The S Class's success is a testament to how ghetto people's taste has gotten.

Not sure I like it based on these pics. Pics were shot too close and at weird angles. The back look funny with those pipes. Back end looks like a 4 layered cake. Will reserve more comments until after official reveal pics and vids are released.

Don't forget the clientele for this model. The elderly don't want too much change and all major manufacturers put out more evolutionary rather than revolutionary designs. This model will still sell well and the brands will save the revolutionary designs to their lower tiered models for their younger buyers.
