#CES: Audi Previews Its All-New Tablets That Will Be OPTIONAL In The All-New Q7
As we've noted in recent weeks, the automakers are gearing up for a busy January. That's because there are not one, but two major events. Kicking off 2015 will be the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) that's becoming a bigger footprint for automakers to display the latest and greatest technological innovations.

Audi has been increasing its presence in recent years. After all, the company's tag line is "Vorsprung durch Technik," which translates from German into "advancement through technology."

Although there may be a surprise in store — the company has shown off the goods previously — the thing the company is promoting for this year's CES are the Audi tablets. Seen in the all-new Q7 sport-utility vehicle, the four rings claims it is taking rear seat entertainment to the next level.

Essentially, the 10-inch tablets will provide a variety of entertainment and will be WiFi enabled. As expected, it will also hook up to the vehicle's functions via MMI.

Check out the clip below to learn MORE!

Audi is breaking new ground in rear seat entertainment. One or optionally two Audi tablets with 10.1 inch screens serve as rear seat monitors. The Audi tablet can stand up to the demanding challenges in the car – it is temperature-resistant and offers the necessary crash safety lacking in conventional end-device solutions. The Audi tablet is connected to the MMI navigation plus via WiFi, thus gaining access to the radio, media, navigation and car functions of the Audi Q7. #magicofaudi

Audi once again proves it is a technology and innovation powerhouse. People are underestimating just how capable this new Q7 will be to drive and how much technology it has.

Once again Audi show its idiocy. Optional tablets that will be outdated 6 months after the customer buys them. Dumber than dumb.

Audi bought the tablets for a vendor. This should be an app not a tablet.

If Audi let the owner use the tablets they already own and/or buy during ownership then they would have something. Audi adds value by keeping inteface software up to date in the vehicle. Let Apple, Google, et.al. fight it out for the actual device. Oh wait, my new Grand Cherokee already does this with my phone and even Chevy has this!! Late again Audi!!

We've got tech! See the new tech? Others don't have this tech! See the cool tech! We have tech!

That's one way of being. It's similar to bullets on a feature sheet, in that it makes it look you're getting "more stuff."

Here's something that's very useful for you. It's intuitive, so you can get up and running real easy. It's easy to use on an ongoing basis, so it won't distract you from your primary task of driving. It's long-lasting and requires no maintenance, so it won't be breaking all the time and needing a trip to the shop. Does it really matter if it's high tech or not?

That's another way of being. Personally, I much prefer a useful solution to a problem, rather than a demonstration of a new gadget someone can put in my car, like self-cancelling turn-signals that CAN'T be manually cancelled (of course you never need to manually cancel the turn indicator; the computer knows when it should cancel).

A much more logical approach would be to create a dock station for 2-3 popular tablets and have the Audi interface be an app. The tablet would then be up to date for the life of the lease.

Touch screen tech is cars is a DUMB idea because tablets will always be 5 years ahead

I wonder how many consumers won't be able to see through the gouge of a $3,500 Technology Package (like with a built in GPS), which they could have addressed a lot more economically with an off-the-shelf consumer product.

How many buyers will want to ante-up the extra cash for these tablets when their kiddos all have tablets of their own already? To the points here, Audi would be wiser to create a way to connect existing tablets to their interface.

The only "one" that would think this is a good idea is GermanNutty...er the Audi advertising department.

If this single illustration is to to demonstrate the significance of CES; "that's becoming a bigger footprint for automakers to display the latest and greatest technological innovations" it simply shows you have no resources or time for reporting.

It looks to be a more versatile setup than what other brands have in their video setups yet y'all are crustier than Mr. Krabs.
