SPIED ON THE STREET: FIRST Real-World WALKAROUND Of The All-New Mercedes-Maybach S600 Outside Of An Auto Show
One point we always try our best to hammer home is the appearance of vehicles in different settings. Under the harsh lights of an auto show, vehicles tend to look a slight bit different. In addition, you have to remember that a controlled setting changes appearance as well.
That's why we LOVE when people spy cars ON THE STREET and post their photos or videos online. This just happened with the all-new Mercedes-Maybach S600 that appeared for the FIRST time at the 2014 Los Angeles Auto Show.
A lad from across the pond shot video this past December of the all-new Mercedes-Maybach S600 that's completely naked in a parking lot. Seems trivial but the videographer captures the vehicle from all angles and at least makes it a bit more real for those who haven't seen it in the flesh yet.
Check out the clip and shots from the Los Angeles Auto Show, below!

Too Gangnam Style for me (i.e. pointless bling for people with taste confined to their mouths).

I agree, my bro. Impala is a lot more luxurious than this.

I'm sorry but the interior is sooooo tacky, and what's up with the pillow, ugh.

What's the deal with the LONG dash and Buick looking steering wheel. Come On!! For the money you will cough up on this MB, they could have done a much better job on the dash design and a better looking steering wheel.

Yeah, too much Gangnam style, too much bling, definitely for the drug dealers. The Escalade is much classier.

If it weren't for all the quilted pattern stitching, it'd be fine.

I think people need to see the market this car is geared to..the new millionaires in China. The Chinese are known to love "bling", hence the abundance of chrome on new Euro cars, even Audi/ Porsche. It will be interesting to see who actually buys this car.

Agree on the diamond patterned leather...looks like a pimpmobile.

When the S-Class' 2014 sales in the US (25,276 units) bested the COMBINED sales of the 7 Series, A8, and LS (24,207 units), Mercedes doesn't care what the criticisms are.
But I am curious to know if any of you criticized the quilted and diamond-pattern leather in Audis or Bentleys.

Meh! I think demand in the US for these vehicles flattens-out above $120,000. Its not the most handsome vehicle, in my opinion, although it is based on the exceptional S-Class platform.
Just look at any Bentley dealer, Maserati Dealer, or Porsche dealer's website and see how many unsold Flying Spurs, Quattroporte's, or Panamera's are out there. Heck, the NYC Porche/Bentley dealer still has unsold 2013's and 2014's on their website (not used - new ones). I hear they are trying peddle those cars with cash on the hood of up to $50,000. Anybody buy one recently?

Again it still looks like a tartered up S class. I think Bentley and Rolls simply have more class then this. I'm not sure what Maybach has learned from it's first sales failure.

Um, it's SUPPOSED to be a "tarted" up S-Class, thus the "S600" designation and the price point far below the original Maybach.
