Mercedes To Announce It Will Ditch New Jersey HQ For Fancy New Atlanta Digs
Daimler AG’s Mercedes Benz USA unit will announce Tuesday it is moving its headquarters from New Jersey to the Atlanta area, a person briefed on the matter said.

The move from the company’s suburban New York City office in Montvale, N.J., is expected to impact nearly 1,000 jobs and mark the latest in a series of moves by foreign automakers. Earlier this year, Toyota Motor Corp. announced it is moving its U.S. unit corporate headquarters from Torrance, Calif., to Plano, Texas. Nissan Motor Co. in 2005 moved its North American headquarters from Gardena, Calif., to the Nashville, Tenn., area.

General Motors Co. is opening a new headquarters office for its struggling Cadillac brand in New York City, moving 30 marketing and sales employees to the Soho neighborhood in Manhattan. The office will have about 120 employees — most new — by next year.

Hmm, someone once said, the reason why Mercedes, Porsche and such set up the factories and offices in the U.S. is because, the U.S. has many world class cities.

But the reality is,

http://www.salon.com/2013/12/10/look_at_the_stats_america_resembles_a_poor_country_partner/

"In Sweden, the minimum wage is $19 per hour and workers enjoy a minimum of five weeks paid vacation every year. In the U.S. the minimum wage is a tick above $7 per hour and workers can expect no more than 12 days of annual vacation. So guess what? IKEA has set up a factory in Virginia. Volkswagen has set up in Tennessee, and the likes of Hyundai, KIA, BMW, Honda, and Toyota have all set up in the South to take advantage of the world’s latest cheap labor source. Moreover, the profits of these foreign companies goes toward stimulating their economies instead of ours."

The reality is, not because the U.S. has many world class cities, but because the U.S. is a cheap, third world country.

"America has become a RINO: rich in name only. By every measure, we look like a broken banana republic. Not a single U.S. city is included in the world’s top 10 most livable cities. Only one U.S. airport makes the list of the top 100 in the world."

In fact, NYC is the only world class American city, and even this is not really on the level of super uber mighty European cities.

It's sad, but let us just accept the truth.

And still, the entire world wants what we have in the US. I have lived in many different countries and work with people from different nationalities and all of them want what we have. Maybe you are not a US citizen and that is why you keep on hating. Just the truth.

The entire world wants what America has.

Please enlighten me. What is that they want? Bad political leadership? Or bad quality Walmart stores?

I have seen many Americans who have said they want what Japan has. Most likely you have never been outside of the U.S. ever in your life, so I guess you wish to live in your own fantasy world like many Americans do. Just the truth.

And the biggest immigrants to the U.S. come from the third world countries.

Of course, the U.S. remains to be the best of all the third world countries, so I guess you talked to people from there? Great job, now you can go back watching Fox News, my friend.

Let me remind you JDMS, I am retired Naval Officer (USNA? get it?) Yes I have lived in your dear country of Japan, Belgium, Bahrain and UAE. In the US I have lived in Monterey CA, Newport RI and of course here in Florida. Yes, all these countries have TCNs, some of the highly educated like my doorman in Bahrain with a MS in Engineering from India. At the same time, my landlord was educated in the US and London and owned multiple properties in Amwaj. And we thought we have a income disparity here. And yes, all of them love the USA because its called the land of opportunity. Any other country named that?
How about you? Where have you lived besides your parents basement?

Once again, a typical dumb American comment.

I've seen tons of people like you already. "Oh, I live great, so it's a great country!"

"Oh, my friend lives great, so it's a great country!"

And millions of Americans who live in hell are fully ignored.

And you wonder yourself why the U.S. as a country has failed.

Too many people are like you in America. Individualistic, and you think your well being = the country is doing great.

I wonder why the founder of Huffington Post called the U.S. a "third world country"? What, because he hates America?

And I'm sorry, kid. I already lived in many other countries to know the problems of America, and I actually am someone who is able to judge things without being biased.

You, on the other hand, are a blind couch patriot who judges things based on your own well being. And funny thing is, "every" single so called "patriot" talks just the way you do. Isn't that interesting?

Oh, by the way. There are many rich Chinese people who have so much money. Do they represent the entire China? According to your logic, seems like that's the case? Wow.

Wait, am I here without a job? Do you know me? You must know me very well or something.

And yet, got me horribly wrong. You don't even know how much money I make, and I usually never really give out, other than the fact that I used to have an Escalade.

But it's ok.

And I can see you are not interested in facts. I really feel sorry for you. This is why you can never win an argument against me. Don't even try again, kid.

And, the U.S. has the military that is bigger than the country itself, and thanks to this, education, infrastructure, healthcare, etc are all broken in the good ol' dumb 'Murica.

But I am glad you are happy to live in a third world country, anyway, my friend. I am not mocking you, I am just saying I am glad you are a sheep enough to not question anything. That's how an American should be.

So much for the sham-fraud of the Chris Christie "economic miracle" in New Jersey. Although I live in Manhattan now (sadly another quasi-socialist "workers paradise), I can say that New Jersey is becoming a hollowed-out shell where the only workers are government workers.

God help us all if that guy ever becomes President - he is all sizzle and no steak.

JDM you ever thought why do foreigners invest in the United States and not in counties like Japan with their lost decade? All countries want the third word debt of the good ole USA. I wonder why?
Funny because you mention education, infrastructure, healthcare. Let me see, is this why everyone in the world that wants a college degree that is worth something comes to the USA for their education? How many CEOs of multi national companies have degrees from the US? And why is it that when people with money wants medical treatment prefer to be seen at a US hospital vice staying in their counties for treatment? They prefer to pay for medical services, I wonder why?
Infrastructure? Really you want to even try and compare this against the US?
USA is the envy of the world, just a fact. Look at yourself trying to put it down. Yes brother, if you are broke in this country (just like any other country) you don't have it as good but for some of us, we are blessed and doing great. Sorry it sucks to be you.

Wow, I actually feel even "more" sorry after reading your 5 year old level comment that is filled with stupidity and low level education.

Let's see,

http://www.rollingstone.com/politics/news/six-ways-america-is-like-a-third-world-country-20140305

So, take a look at this article, and get back to me, only if you have the "courage" to even take a look at it ;)

Oh, so you don't want to talk about infrastructure. Is that because you know how crappy it is? I feel sorry for you, son.

Let's see, why do China and Japan want America's debt? Because the U.S. remains to be the biggest market in the entire world even to this day, and it is only stupid to ignore big markets when you want to sell things. But oh sorry, this does "not" make America the envy of anything. That's like also saying China is the envy of the world, since it is also a big market. You sure are an idiot.

And college degree in the U.S., and they are actually useful in their countries as they prove you can actually speak English, and show that you are educated. This the same thing applies to Canadian degree, or the European degree, as they are worth a lot in other developing countries.

But you seem to think the U.S. degree is the only thing that is worth something. I wonder why there are SO MANY graduates with no jobs in this "envy" of the world, then? Oh wait, your education level is too low to even talk about this I assume.

Many poor Americans have died due to insurance problems + financial issues. And yet, here you are, talking about how some "rich" people want to be treated in the U.S. hospitals. Are you stupid or something? This is your idea of a "successful" medical system?

But oh yes, since you always come up with baseless, idiotic arguments with absolutely "no proof" as well (The kind of argument that you can see on Fox News alone), I really hope you have the courage to even take a "look" at the source I just gave you.

But oh, don't worry. I know you won't (Can't) look at it LOL!

Not to mention your cars are Lexus LS and Mercedes C class.

This amazing "envy" of the world can't even produce a damn car that can appeal to someone like you? That's some "great" envy of the world, huh? LOL!

And funny thing is, I have seen tons of people like you in this good ol' 'Murica.

"Oh America is the greatest country in the world!"

And I look at the things they have. Swiss watches, Japanese appliances, German cars, French fashion products, French wine, etc.

And they make someone like me who prefers American things look real foolish for even trying to support the American companies.

And you talk about your patriotism which is worth nothing. Laughable. Go back watching Fox News, kid.

It seems all you can do is to continue to badmouth our country just to make yourself feel better. I guess its not working since you continue posting this nonsense.

I left the craphole aka the United States of America, and I am doing well in this country on my own without a problem. The United States also does NOT respect the Americans living in other countries, as they force you to pay tons of taxes (According to Forbes, around 5.5 million Americans living in other countries are thinking of giving up the American citizenship due to this problem. This is around 73% of the Americans abroad). This actually made thousands of Americans give up the American citizenship (One of people I know did as well), as they have no reason to be treated this way by their own homeland. What kind of an "envy" of the world is so "desperate" to suck money?

And anyone who can do well, can do good in, any country. Success is not only guaranteed in the United States, but for some reason, it is a "common sense" to believe that the U.S. is the only land that can guarantee you the successful life. I have to say, this kind of American Dream idea has died decades ago.

And am I filled with hatred, or am I heavily disappointed in what America has become?

I think this is going to be a great move for Mercedes-Benz USA. A new facility, close to the largest single international flights airport, and much closer to their production facility in Alabama... not to mention some serious government funding. With so much new product being build by MB in the U.S., it makes sense to be closer to your production center. Hopefully it is well organized so as not to disrupt the employees lives to much.

The government of New Jersey tried to outlaw Tesla sales in a feeble attempt to preserve the rich donations they receive from mainstream auto dealers!

New Jersey's government is CORRUPT, and the citizens there who elected them deserve to see their jobs LEAVE due to their complacency.

Votes have consequences. You New Jersians elected thugs, now watch your state lose businesses.
