Lexus College Releases Video On Why The RC 350 Is Better Than The 435i Coupe - Are You A Believer Now?
There are a couple of things that some manufacturers will never have. Leaving aside the technical details and the fact that some rather new companies will never admit that they still have a lot to work on before challenging veterans, class is something a lot of them don’t have.

Lexus just released a rather hilarious video in which they try to explain why their RC 350 is better than its rival from BMW, the 435i Coupe. For this purpose, they brought out their secret weapon, Ming-Jou Chen of the Lexus College, that should provide some irrefutable reasons why the Japanese car is the one to get.

Not sure what to think of this. There's something amateurish about Lexus' approach. It certainly didn't feel like a product (the video) of a luxury brand. I feel like this video would be most effective on a non-enthusiast who only takes information at face value.

Powertrain advantages, so incredibly wrong on that one, haha stupid Lexus. HP is not king, torque is, you sound so dumb Lexus.

All the additional standard features are what Lexus NEEDS to be competitive, after all, this is how they built their brand (reminds me of current Hyundai)

Is Lexus College like Microsoft Experts? *Everyone* is trying to convince you, the prospective consumer, that they have what you need and want, and that you should buy their product or service.

Do your own due diligence.

Personally, I can't get past the Lexus's "Predator Face" look :-( Not pretty, no matter how good the car is.

The entire video is about all the extra costs of the 435. The RC is indeed a better value but not sure if this video will help steal any BMW customers.

As former BMW business development associate / client advisor, I have some thoughts... this will be long, so bear with me!!

1.) I'm wondering if "Lexus College" is for their salespeople what "BMW University" is for BMW client advisors to help master them master all of the selling points of their vehicles, and help them sell against competitors?

2.) Looks are subjective, of course... while I prefer the 4-Series, the RC is pretty sharp.

3.) re: run-flat tires... yes they're more expensive, but they'll save lives in a blowout at high speeds-- my gf has a 328i Coupe w/ xDrive, and avoided serious injury last month... after making it home safely from Christmas w/ relatives, and after not having to change a tire in a snowstorm or wait for hours for AAA to arrive, she had a 150mi driving range on a completely flat tire to get to our closest BMW dealership here if she needed it that range. she's alive and well, thanks to run-flats-- i don't care if they cost a little extra over regular tires!!

3.) re: "powertrain advantages"... while the RC 350 is a full 2-3 years newer than the 435i, it gets a combined fuel economy of 22 vs. BMW's 25 MPG... while it has 306 HP to the 435i's 300, the BMW has a 0-to-60 time of 5.2 sec compared to the Lexus model's 5.7 sec. And don't get me started on no manual option!! Soon the 435i will become the 440i w/ 330 HP (and likely more torque as well!)... BMW has a proven SMOOTH inline-6 engine compared w/ other manufacturers' V6 models... So yeah........ I'm failing to see most of the "advantages"-- unless I'm missing something?

4.) re: backup camera... how soon before all manufacturers are required to have these..? maybe they'll be standard upon the LCI (mid-cycle refresh) for the 4-series..? can't wait until they are standard... and, i LOVE the surround view 360 degree view offered on some of our models-- i also can't wait for that to be standard, one day!! for any innovations not found in the 4-series that the RC offers-- kudos. i LOVE competition... it forces BMW to add more into its own cars, for less...

5.) re: interior... there's a reason that BMW interior dash setups don't differ much between models-- every switch and button is intuitively right where you need it, and the layout is great. (i also love Audi interiors... and the MB multi-media input device thing is REALLY sharp looking on newest models-- what's it called? has anyone spent any time using it yet?) I'm NOT crazy about the dash layout of the RC 350 at all... looks like a Toyota or Honda interior, to me... and the analog clock looks completely out'f place in it! maybe in a higher-end luxury car, but not a sports coupe... tacky. i have the video paused on a diff monitor, and the more i look at the interior of the RC 350 the more i much prefer our BMW interiors. but, subjective, i suppose. offering voice activation as standard is GREAT-- and will push BMW and others to offer it for less, hopefully. as for the BMW iDrive-- i've

How about mentioning the Lexus engine is a Toyota V-6 GR or the SC-F chassis is taken from three other vehicles: previous generation GS front, old IS middle section, etc. There is the savings. The Camry next to you has the same engine.

I don't doubt that the 435 is a better driving car, but if anything pushes BMW to make more of these standard features (or lower priced options), I'm all for it.

That was really lame. THERE ARE NO POWERTRAIN ADVANTAGES FOR THE RC350!!!!!! THE BMW MOTOR BLOWS IT OUT THE WATER. 6 HP DON'T MEAN SQUAT WHEN THE BMW HAS MORE TORQUE AT LOWER RPM!!!! LEXUS JUST LOST A LOT OF RESPECT WITH THIS LAME ARSE VIDEO.

this video was really such trash, everyone knows the japanese are always better equipped than the germans.
i want to see real numbers, like how they perform on a track, not this nonsense.. looks are subjective, i know plenty of people will like the lexus bold styling over the bmw.
id take the 435i over the rc350, id take the rc-f over the 435i .. and ultimately the m4 over the rc-f
