#NAIAS: Mercedes-Benz Drops ALL The Info On Its SECOND AMG Sport Model, The C450 — FULL DETAILS HERE!
You know, perhaps I oversold the idea that Mercedes-Benz's BIG star at the 2015 Detroit Auto Show (NAIAS) was the GLE-Class. Probably the second most important thing the three-pointed star is talking about here is its all-new AMG Sport series of vehicles.

The first two products to debut are the GLE 450 AMG and the C450 AMG.

Essentially, the goal of these two products is to bridge the gap between the standard GLE and C-Class vehicles and the fully fledged GLE63 and C63. Think of these AMG Sport models as Mercedes' response to Audi's S cars. Audi has the A-line, S-line and RS-line. Mercedes has the standard line, AMG Sport line and full-bore AMG cars.

The C450 is particularly interesting, to me at least, because when I recently drove the all-new C400 I adored it. In fact, I named it one of my Top 007 FAVORITE cars of 2014. According to Mercedes, these AMG Sport models will receive tuning done directly by the Affalterbach label. That means a slight power bump — now 362 horseopwer — better steering and an AMG-tuned suspension.

Sounds good to me! Look out for it come to your local showrooms fall 2015.

Mercedes-Benz's press release follows:

Second AMG sports model with V6 power

Affalterbach. Driving Performance — the AMG brand promise and the typical character traits can now be experienced by an even broader target group. The new C450 AMG 4MATIC expands the product range of the performance and sports car brand of Mercedes-Benz with another new AMG sports model. As an attractive entry into the world of AMG, the C450 AMG 4MATIC combines a 362 horsepower 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6 engine with a permanent Performance all-wheel drive system and sophisticated suspension technology adopted from the Mercedes-AMG C63. The result is fascinating Driving Performance and the hallmark emotional expressiveness of the brand. The new C450 AMG 4MATIC will further bolster the already extensive and highly compelling C-Class product line-up when it launches in the U.S. market in the fall of 2015.

Less power than the ATS-V... certainly it'll be more fun to drive than the C300 & C400 which have noisly engines, they don't sound like they should be in a Mercedes.... it'll sell because of the star and it'll be a nice car... not for me.

Your ATS-V comment is irrelevant, the C63 is there for that. This C450 will be a very appealing daily driver for people who live in the snow belt, needs a sporty, comfortable luxury car with enough power, and don't wish to spend north of 80 grand on a dedicated, track ready sports car like the ATS-V, M3 etc
