#NAIAS: Volkswagen Announces Plans To Add 100 New Dealerships In Next Three Years
Volkswagen of America plans to add about 100 new dealerships to its U.S. retail network through 2018 as part of its plan to revive its growth in the market.

Michael Horn, one year into his tenure as CEO of Volkswagen of America, told reporters at the Detroit auto show that VW wants to add the additional 100 rooftops in open points where the VW brand currently lacks a presence. Volkswagen currently has about 650 U.S. dealerships.

The push to expand its network comes as VW readies a product offensive to reverse a two-year U.S. sales decline, starting with a new midsize crossover debuting in the first quarter of 2017 and a redesigned, long-wheelbase Tiguan compact crossover that arrives in the second quarter of 2017.

Pure bravado. They have a massive dealer revolt over product, reimbursement for warranty work, and sheer antagonistic behavior. So maybe they mean they will add 100 dealers to replace the 100 that are sick to death of their hubristic treatment of dealers.

Great we're gonna see more VWs broken down on the side of the freeway...
