#NAIAS: With Only 467 HP In The New GS-F, Did Lexus Bring A Knife To A Gun Fight?
In Max Brooks' zombie epic World War Z: An Oral History of the Zombie War, the author envisions an apocalypse where the living dead necessitate a rethinking of societal behavior. One such change, among many, was the replacement of large-caliber, automatic weapons with smaller .22-caliber rounds and semi-automatic firearms that promise better accuracy when battling the undead. We're hoping Lexus used this as its inspiration when finalizing the numbers for its 467-horsepower, 4,000-pound GS F sedan. Lexus may not have brought a knife to a gun fight, but it's fair to say the firepower of its new GS F is lagging behind that of its German rivals.

Thank for using my comment, but seriously more of a BMW 550 M-Sport, Audi S6 competitor. 0-60 I don't think the Lexus could keep up.

clearly, no way this will keep up with the E63/M5/RS7/CTS-V gang. It has the same engine and transmission as the RC-F and weighs about 100 lbs more. The RC-F hasn't been clocked below 4.3 secs to 60 so I would imagine the GS-F would clock 4.5 secs. The big guns above (except the new V) have all clocked anywhere from 3.2 to 3.7 secs to 60.

The fact that you don't like it means the hit the nail on the head. This is the future of styling. Watch how the Germans start to follow Lexus on this trend. They already copied interiors the last several years from dark cold interiors to the softer nicer interiors lexus developed......

I wonder what Lexus thinks their demographic is for the GS. Or even this GS-F luxury sport thingy?

I guess the GS was supposed to be a luxury car for adults with sport-oriented attitudes. The Lexus F-cars seem more like "boy racer" dreams mixed with the standards that Lexus (was) known for. The RC-F & GS-F both look like a kid got his dad's old Lexus & immediately went to the aftermarket SEMA shop to install a load of unnecessary body (upgrades) which make the finished car look like a rolling punchline.

Seeing this makes me appreciate the Cadillace V-series cars even more for their way of "dialing back" on the boy-racer exterior elements & keeping their performance vehicles looking like they still belong to a luxury brand.

It's just heinous. Criminally ugly. Maybe appropriate for 16-year old boys with wealthy parents.
