#NAIAS: Is THIS Interior REALLY Worth $150,000 To YOU? Can The All-New Acura NSX Play With The Big Boys?
At the 2015 Detroit Auto Show (NAIAS) it seemed like there were a lot of people tripping all over themselves running to the all-new Acura NSX. The company is saying this is the production variant since we've seen it numerous times before.

OK, then. If this is it, then we can keep it real.

(NAIAS) Detroit Auto Show

We have to ask: Is THIS interior really worth about $150,000? That's the approximate price, according to Acura's press conference.

That means it will go up against the likes of the Aston Martin Vantage, Audi R8, BMW i8, Chevrolet Corvette, Jaguar F-Type, Porsche 911, Mercedes-AMG GT and upcoming McLaren Sport Series (P13). With exception of the Sport Series (P13), they're all on the market.

Do YOU see the NSX keeping up OR will it have to make up for this with a killer driving experience?

I would buy without a problem. After all, this Acura NSX is meant for the people who actually can admire the Japanese engineering. May that be boyracers, JDM loyalists, etc, they will know it when they see this car.

However, I can already tell many of Europe worshippers will mock this car eventually. I have heard tons, gazillions of snobby, filthy rich Europe worshippers and the Americans with too much inferiority complex (Since the American cars are even worse than Chinese cars) making fun of Nissan GT-R and Lexus LFA stating that, GT-R has transmission issues (And the infamous warranty issue), and people said LFA failed to set any kind of standard.

It's obvious this car will be the target of such criticism, just like GT-R and LFA, but haters can hate.

NSX may not be as luxurious and gorgeous (nor is it powerful) as the automobiles that the European powerhouses build, but the NSX shows what Honda engineering is all about. So, let the Europe worshippers mock it or laugh at it, I will still take the NSX in a heartbeat.

And the Americans with too much inferiority complex will most likely desperately try to find whatever the flaws this new NSX will have, like warranty issue (LOL), all just to make them feel better about themselves. But they need to know the fact that, the new NSX's development was entirely done by Honda USA, not Honda Japan, so I would laugh my hats off if I find some American saying "Oh hey look! This origami Japan car has some transmission issues looool!!! 'Murica!!! Japan suxx!! ...oh wait, it was made in the U.S.? uh.... well.."

Can't wait to see that American ignorance on the internet.

At this stage I am interested in this car, but I am definitely skeptical.

It is going to have to drive AWESOME for me to really desire this car.

I mean, seriously, it's been 10 years now and its design is actually looking played out/cartoon-y now...

Not sure WTH you're talking about. Ever since the GTR and LFA came out most of the hate spewed at those cars have come from people who seem bent on upholding the superiority of European, (particularly German) makes. In fact, everytime there was even talk of comparing the GTR to the 911 there was a flurry of biased rhetoric shot at the GTR. If you ask me the the Eurofans who will be the most anxious to rip into this new NSX.

Looks like more of a sports sedan or a sports coupe, or an RSX revival interior more than a supercar interior. Better than the dual screen setup on most Acuras right now but not as sporty as the NSX wishes/should be. A bit worried that Acura didn't feel like releasing the facts and figures on the NSX because they felt "they can be misunderstood because it's a hybrid" a weird way of saying we can't quite cut it?

I think the interior fits the car and the price point. Though I do wish they had kept a bit more of the design of the concept's interior to add a bit more "flash". But, this interior is in the same spirit as the original NSX, which had a simple layout and was clearly about function vs. flash.

Maybe the "R" version will get the V-10 that should have gone in there in the 1st place...

I agree. We need the V8 or V10 for the new NSX-R.

I mean, Lexus LFA has a V10.

And pretty much all the super powerful European cars like Lamborghini, BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Ferrari, Rolls-Royce, Aston Martin, etc put down V12, and at least V8.

So, the more powerful version of NSX needs V10.

Honestly , based on my experience with Acura cars...I am sure it will be the most reliable sport car and it looks beautiful to me....

My suspect that initially sales will be strong amongst past NSX owners, owners of cheaper Japanese sports cars looking to move up and rice rocket owners as young adults who now have cash to spare in middle age.
However, after this demand is met I believe the NSX will find it hard to attract many new buyers to the brand. Don't get me wrong...the car looks great and will likely perform exceptionally. The problem is that at this price point there are other cars with greater panache and heritage and equal or greater performance. You never want to buy a car that you have to explain why you bought it and why you paid so much for it...having to always answer these questions tarnishes the ownership experience no matter how good it drives. Park it amongst a Porsche GT3,
four year old Ferrari and Lamborghini, Mercedes GT or Aston Martin and you are the guy asked those questions. The others are icons and need no explanation. It is what it is. Would I own one...Yes. Would I expect most of my friends to understand why versus other high performance cars...No!

Well, sorry, but I would have to disagree with you. The "NSX" name is more than well-known in the automotive world and many consider it, dare I say, legendary for what it did to the landscape of super/exotic cars. At the same time, the brand "Acura" is still a very viable brand in the luxury/near-luxury segment. Acura has proven, per the success of the MDX, RDX, and TLX, that when they offer the right product, buyers will come. The updated ILX should (hopefully) prove it again.
I will almost guarantee you that the person to whom you need to explain the NSX is the same person whom you need to clarify that they don't make the Ferrari that Magnum PI once drove.

Interior is about as nice as a corvette. Not appropriate at this proce point.

In all fairness, the Corvette's is quite good. I feel it's similar as you noted, which will have difficulty competing at $150k mark.

The reality is this though: if the thing drives as good as people are expecting, it will sell.
