If Audi's Next Gen A6 Looked Like THIS - Would You Be Making Room In The Garage?

If Audi's Next Gen A6 Looked Like THIS - Would You Be Making Room In The Garage?
Audi is fully aware it needs to better differentiate its models, specifically its sedan lineup. Just look at today’s A8, A6, and A4. They all look way too similar. Only their length size (and price tags) sets them apart. Audi has taken a fair amount of flak for this and rightly so. But now it’s determined to correct this wrong. The Audi Prologue concept revealed at LA earlier this year is, so far, the clearest indication yet of the brand’s new design direction. We really like it, especially how it features more evolved and edgier styling and yet remains pure Audi.

Positive for sure , this car is beautiful in and out , this is what happens with Audi , that those Koreans brands imitated , and mimic grille , design , angles ,pillars and more , and also exagerate and play with the better angles of all of them because they hire a German designer fired by Audi and they also take an engineer from BMW M division the other day , to create in a future not far an special line like 3 Germans , AMG ,M and S , will see. This was done by Lexus with F cars.

First, the A6 has a good foundation to work from. It's conservatively handsome with strong lines and great proportions. This rendering does not change that and it looks really good. Nice, modern lines, though the backend looks a bit frumpy.

That being said, I'm not sure how anyone call this design a step in the direction to differentiate models. It has the same greenhouse as the current A6. And the front-end and back-end are basically from the Prologue.

Here we go again, Agent 009 beating that dead horse theme again about "they all look alike". Hey do your glasses needing cleaning.
News flash: ALL car company line-ups have the SAME theme, not just Audi. BUT you only comment on Audi. Cadillac's angular headlights, Ford's Fusion looks are now making its way through all of the Ford models; Lincoln, Benz, Toyota, even BMW. In fact you just posted a blog recently showing the new BMW model. It looked no different. Please no more articles about how this car or that car looks the same. Just tell us about spy news without all the same repeated nonsense about Audi (or whoever) looking the same. That's how ALL car companies save money and make profits. Every dang Cadillac you know them a mile away with the same angular headlights upfront. They've had that same front head for 3 generations now.

You do realize that 009 isn't author of the article, right? (Unless I'm wrong and 009 also writes for carbuzz).

Nope. I don't like the appearance of the current A6; too long and tall for the width. This one improves as it appears to have a lower stance and sexier sheetmetal but it's competing against some very potent options.

Moreover, I've had great experience with Audi in the past from a reliability standpoing. However, the plow-oriented chassis tuning isn't my cup of tea so unless that's changed...

Of course, that's just a personal opinion but answering the question...

Not an eye catcher for me. Just another angular design of this decade.

Audi's Bauhaus era which began with the B3/Audi 80 is pretty played out at this point. It's like they are trying to mesh it with the Ital Design linear look of the B1/Fox and it just does not compute.

VWAG's greed for sales at all cost is no doubt stifling something more outre from the styling department.

I'd love to see Audi go curvaceous and fluidic almost like what a Jaguar would be if Callum weren't at the helm styling new versions of Merkurs and Camrys.

No - I have never liked the Cow Catcher grills that have sprung up lately from Audi - and Lexus - and others. In addition - the change in the grill is not enough to make it better for me. Otherwise - it is essentially the same styling they have had for years - and Audi specifically have styled their different lines far to similar - even allowing for a family resemblance in other brands. From afar - it is often impossible to tell their A3/4/6 cars apart. The 6 should have something to take its looks more upmarket - as should the 8. And while looking similar - there should be no question of the difference of the 8 with the rest of the family.

Not this guy's best work, the portion below the greenhouse is the concept but there wouldn't be so much glass on top of it as there is in this. It would be more proportional.
