Lexus Sweeps Top Honors In KBB 2015 Resale Value Awards

The 2015 model-year brand and category winners of the annual Best Resale Value Awards, recognizing vehicles for their projected retained value through the initial five-year ownership period, were announced today by Kelley Blue Book, www.kbb.com, the only vehicle valuation and information source trusted and relied upon by both consumers and the automotive industry.

Subaru and Lexus earned top honors for best brand and best luxury brand (respectively), with Subaru claiming three model winners and Lexus producing six model winners from a total of 22 different segments.  In addition, Chevrolet and Toyota each have an impressive five models winning 2015 Best Resale Value Awards, with the majority being trucks or SUVs.

"Lexus notably captured the top luxury brand honors for the fourth year in a row, and after previously winning the brand award in 2011, Subaru is back on top again for 2015 as the best mainstream brand for resale value across its entire lineup," said Eric Ibara, director of residual value consulting for Kelley Blue Book.  "While both Subaru and Lexus deliver incredible resale value, we also are impressed with the strides made by General Motors, which tops domestic automakers with seven combined awards for Chevrolet and GMC.  The entire list of Top 10 Best Resale Value vehicles is dominated this year by trucks, SUVs and crossovers, which is a testament to the strength these categories will carry in the future."

Kelley Blue Book's Best Resale Value Awards are in its 13th year and are based on projections from the Kelley Blue Book® Official Residual Value Guide.  Kelley Blue Book® Residual Values are established by experienced automotive analysts that review the output from the statistical models built upon millions of transactions.  Vehicles that earn the highest five-year residual values, expressed as a percentage of their original Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price (MSRP), are selected for these prestigious awards.  Low-volume vehicles and vehicles with an MSRP of more than $60,000 are excluded from award consideration, except in the plug-in vehicle, luxury and high-performance categories.

So, KBB is able to make a five-year projected value for the RC350, a car that just went on sale 3 months ago? Interesting.

Would have thought Honda would have had a few top positions. Surprising that Jeep had these wins.

Hmmmm....the luxury compact/crossover win for the GLK, surprises me, given it is arguably one of the hottest segments currently and the current GLK is due to be replaced soon...

The LX 570 winning for full size is no surprise as you see so few of them, dealers/private sellers hardly have to compete in the pre-owned market on price

Lexus plays the game VERY WELL with its CPO vehicles. They do sweet as honey, short term leases and then when those cars come back they put them out at higher prices than what the vehicle would go for privately. When Lexus first did CPO they put the cars out at relatively high prices banking that if they backed them well and gave customers the full Lexus experience that they would sell the cars AND IT WORKED. Thus over time people have bought the idea of Lexus cars holding their value.

Imagine that, not a single soon-to-dominate-the-world-Hyundai/Kia on the list. As for the statement "...over time people have bought the idea...", yep, that's true, those naive customer's thinking may be false but their money sure is real. Kinda sting a little doesn't it?

It makes no difference what you think about their value so long as it it working for THEM.

Is that why they are such a success worldwide, Lol! Maybe that is the reason AUDI, BMW and MB are the worldwide leaders. And yes, the USA.

I guess "quality" only goes so far.

Using "quality" tried and tested Toyota parts. Smart. Lowers costs and increases reliability.

World wide toyota wins not mb or bmw....they are the toyota of europe, they make stripped down versions just like toyotas. They just dont' have two different names....
