BMW's Brand Ambassador Katie Couric Admits On National TV She Actually Drives An Audi

BMW has two new brand ambassadors for its Super Bowl ad this year: former “Today Show” anchors Katie Couric and Bryant Gumbel. But the automaker may want to call Couric in to quickly brush up on the brand rulebook.

The brand's Super Bowl spot harks back to a now-infamous 1994 clip from the show when the presenters were perplexed by the internet and struggled to explain to viewers how to email the program. “What is ‘internet’ anyway,” Gumbel said, “Do you write to it like mail?”

Ouch!... I mean, he-he... I mean ouch!... I mean...

Hey folks, here's a news flash: It's just a job, not a way of life. It's like those celebrity endorsements, and actors in commercials.

Not to be unkind..but YIKES!

By the way, isn't this BMW's fault? Shouldn't they loan her an X5 or something for a month as part of her doing press for the ad so something embarrassing like this doesn't happen.

We also don't know the backstory...maybe Audi paid her to say that she really drives an Audi.

I guess we will never know the true story.

Typical entertainer...give me the money and the hell with personal integrity or accountability. BMW not without blame and egg on their face too. Who the hell ever thought Katie Couric was the best choice to endorse a car anyway. BMW CEO was last heard bellowing "I WANT A NAME AND I WANT IT NOW!"

This shouldn't be a surprise Audis are generally for the wife. Most car guys know not to overpay on a VW just for a badge.

We got the bubble headed
Bleached blonde
Comes on at five
She can tell you 'bout the plane crash
With a gleam in her eye

Katie Couric is a money whore

A typical elitist American woman talking about how great the German brands are.

And we wonder why the United States has no brands to be proud of.

And also we wonder why the U.S. economy is as good as a third world country level.

bMw's marketing department should find a spokes person that actually drives a bmw. However, she fits the agenda for what they are trying to portray in the commercial and the majority of the public won't know that she drives an Audi. In the end, BMW get the commercial they want, KC gets the money she wants.
