I am guessing it will still be as useless of an AWD system as the CRV which doesn't allow enough power to be sent to the rear wheels to actually propel the car, maybe and hopefully I will be wrong

This is a brilliant move. Now it we could just get a 2WD Soul "GTI" with lowered suspension. The Soul is a great seller. This will increase that margin.
