WE Show YOU What 99% Of The World MISSED In The Nissan Super Bowl Ad. The All-New MAXIMA!
As noted earlier, tonight is the night when the car companies pull out all the stops. Nissan seems to be the first to strike.
That's because not only did it show off its all-new prototype racer that will likely debut during this year's racing season, it also showed off the all-new Nissan Maxima. Remember the Sport Sedan Concept? Yeah, that's the inspiration.
Although the storyline centered around a race car driving father, it didn't take too long to see the LMP1 car and the Maxima fully revealed. For us it's interesting to see Nissan chose a commercial over an auto show for the vehicle to make its first appearance.
Check out the ad below!
#withdad follows the struggles of a hardworking and close-knit family striving for togetherness across the years.
As part of our #withdad campaign, Nissan will donate up to $1,000,000 to two organizations that, like Nissan, help people build better lives for themselves and their families - Habitat for Humanity® and Wounded Warrior Project®. We are proud to be their partner.

OK, it gets points for trying to be unique, but it's just not a nice-looking car.

Weird! The Maxima was always one of the nicest cars out there. NO more.

If you are going to debut a new car during the Super Bowl (which I think is a clever idea), go in it fully so the masses understand. Not just the few dozen on this site who picked up on it.
With that said, this car is horribly awkward. The front fender line makes the front look heavy. Same situation with the Titan. And what is going on with the C pillar?

What's a Mazda 6 doing in a Nissan commercial? The rear looks pretty sharp but the rear door isn't working. Front engine LMP1, quite interesting. Kinda like launching a brand new cell phone without a touch screen in 2015. Interesting to see what Nissan has seen that no on else has.

I had to laugh. When I had seen the commercial (since we were recording the SuperBowl on DirectTV recorder), I seen this. I had to run it back a few times to look closely. It's not bad looking but it reminds be of some squashed bug. I guess you'll have to see it in person.

Now that we have seen this weird Maxima, I have to honestly say, I am glad that some of the other auto companies are NOT extreme with their designs (BMW, Audi, MB, etc). Too many times these auto companies try SO HARD to create such a unique design, that they fail miserably. I'm sure they will sell the Maxima because of incentives and such. But I'll stick with that "clean design" with updates rather than something that looks like an elephant has sat n the roof. (I once owned a 97 Maxima and 2002, my last one; that engine was always nice)
The Honda Civic interior dash, RAV4 melted look dash and Nissan Maxima squashed look. Maybe it's better in person???

So now the Toyota/Lexus vs Nissan race is on for who has the ugliest and most hideous cars on the planet.

If it's AWD, then maybe it will be interesting. Outside of that, it would just be an odd looking sedan.

I imagine this is quite a shock to those who prefer different sized boxes with kidney grilles, and different sized potatoes with 4 rings glued on them.
