2015 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 Challenges Nissan's GT-R Nismo - Dare We Say Who Comes Out On Top?

Among the automakers, the automotive media, and the fans, new vehicles face great expectations from the moment their existence is revealed. Speculation and bench racing run rampant as we all try to infer from the available data how a vehicle should perform and how it will compare to the best in the segment. This prejudgment is no better illustrated than in the realm of sports cars, which brings us to these two perfect examples.

Both the Chevrolet Corvette Z06 and the Nissan GT-R NISMO were among the most anticipated sports cars of recent years. The former sees a thoroughly improved chassis and interior matched to an even more capable drivetrain and suspension that promise to steal the mantle of supercar-killer from the latter, a no-holds barred rethink of the dominant supercar-killer of the past decade. Both cars promise performance normally reserved for cars two and three times the price, and both deliver in markedly different ways.

I think they should do a rematch when the Z07 auto is available. It's quicker than the manual so I would imagine it would make the track time much closer.

I've driven the Stingray and the GTR at Willow Springs but not on the same day. The GTR feels like software. It feels like a numb AWD thing. I can obliterate a GTR at Willow in a TVR Sagaris. The GTR is what viagra popping oldsters buy to make them appear hot and what young JDM import tuner boys masturbate to. The GTR is not an amazing car. It generates great numbers, but that does not make it great.

Ugh. Can't say I'm not disappointed with the results. Bring on the automatic!

as a corvette fan since i was a kid, im very disappointed. no reason this monster version of the vette should lose to the gtr. no shame in losing to a gtr, but come on !! this is the mighty z06 !
the only excuse i can make is the gtr is 50k more expensive... besides the lack of an auto transmission, i think its becoming clear that a performance oriented awd system is a must.
i drove the regular stingray and felt i couldnt get the power down and that has 200hp less !!

USNA1999 - - - so you believed Matty? He always believers his wet dreams are real. The TVR Sagaris was one the worst cars ever built - - - and it became nail in TVR's coffin. A true kit car, poor handling, poor reliability, poor materials, and that awful racer boy wannabe styling.

This is well known in the industry: From the former Stig, Ben Collins - Finally, we reach the last, and possibly the worst car, on Collin’s list, the TVR Sagaris.

Only a moron would want to own this car and dream that it could possible ever beat a GTR. The TVR Sagaris is and always was a real a pile of crap

The Z06 auto should do better. Randy is a good racer though so I wonder how much it would close the gap in his hands.

Who is the premier GT-R driver out there? The Corvette has Jim Mero to set lap times, for example. I think we'll see him at the Nurburgring this year.
