Audi Closes In On 50 With 49th Sales Increase In A Row - Up 14.3% In January

Audi reported that its January 2015 sales increased 14.3% to 11,541 vehicles, a total that stands as the 49th consecutive month of record U.S. sales for the premium brand.

On the heels of its fifth consecutive year of record sales, Audi continued its retail momentum in January 2015, with the best-ever January results in Audi U.S. history. The previous January record was set in 2014 with sales of 10,101 vehicles.

Audi Certified pre-owned vehicle sales also reached record levels during the most recent month. January 2015 marks the 18th consecutive month of record Audi CPO sales, through an 18% gain for the month on 3,730 CPO vehicles sold.

“We are extremely pleased to start the year strong with records in both new and CPO sales,” said Mark Del Rosso, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, Audi of America. “The family of Audi owners is steadily expanding, and the success of our CPO Sales Event is a testament to the growing size of our customer base.”

January represented strong demand for Audi luxury SUVs, with a 15.8% increase in sales encompassing the Audi Q3, Q5 and Q7 models.

Consumer demand for the A3 model line (including the A3 sedan, the A3 Cabriolet and the S3 performance sedan) bolstered January results with 2,383 vehicles sold, making it the second-best selling model for Audi in the U.S.

Highlights:

Sales mix for Audi S performance variants finished the month at 14.7% for the S3 sedan; 17.9% for the S4 sedan; 38.8% for the S5/RS 5; 2.6% for the S6; 43.2% for the S7/RS 7; 12.1% for the S8; 66.7% for the TTS Coupe and TTS Roadster, and 7.2% for the SQ5 crossover.
Audi holds the longest running monthly record sales streak in the premium car market according to a competitive sales report from MotorIntelligence.com.

Clearly, thank goodness for the A3 and Q3.

looks as if the GLA sold twice as much as the Q3... and the CLA just edged out the A3...we won't get into the rest of the line up though...gets ugly

Right. Audi has ZERO growth outside of those models.

As a brand, Audi's sales LAG Mercedes big time.

I like the A7 so I'm sad to see it go down.

At the same time, I don't have sympathy for the A8 (an inflated Phaeton). That car simply does not sell.

There will always be 2-3 models down (negative) sales for every auto company. They simply don't redesign or update EVERY model in that year. Next year will be the release of the new A4, FULL year for the Q3; New A8, facial updates for the A6/A7 and other. BMW is the same way; MB same way, GM, Toyota, Lexus all of them have several models in their line-up with negative sales. This is old news to any auto maker. When a car is 3 or 4 years into it's life cycle people feel it's "looking old".

There won't be a new A8 next year. The A8 just got a facelift for 2015.

Audi's momentum is very strong in the US. The A4, A5, A6 and A8 are so old and Audi still manages a 14% increase. That shows how Audi has built a superb brand.

I can't until the new Q7 and A4 launch sales.

C Class was oldest car in its segment and second only to the 3 series in sales, E Class is currently the oldest and best selling in its segment, S Class was oldest in its segment and well you know...dominated until the end...

So according to Benz Age is nothing but a number, the proof is in the putting

The increase came from new models, Q3 and A3, not from those old arse models. All those old models are -down for the month or can't you read a sales chart?

Keyword is "was." Audi's A4, A5 and A8 ARE the current oldest models in their segments. Audi is still seeing tremendous year-over-year growth despite the old age which is a terrific sign. With the new Q7 set to go on sale and the next A4 just around the corner, Audi will see tremendous growth not just in the U. S. but globally. Let's not forget the upcoming Q8, TT-Q new models that will be added to the lineup as well.

Wrong again, u conviently left out the A6 as you are aware the E Class IS the oldest in its segment and selling 4x as much as the A6

Excuses, excuses, just tell your boys at Audi to step it up i mean being outsold by Acura and Cadillac, 2 makers with half the lineup of Audi...embarrassing

And please tell them to order an early facelift for that sad excuse for an automobile they call the Q7, they completely ruined the original Q7's legacy

@Car4Life...the Q7's "legacy" was that it was a flabby, Buick-Lincoln variant of the truly terrible VW Toejam.

Outside of the newer, less-expensive A3 and Q3, the Audi brand is DOWN 18% from last year. Do you really call that a "terrific sign"? Let's not forget, those "saving graces" for Audi aren't even beating sales of their CLA and GLA competition. This is just a reality check.

To compare apples to apples, Mercedes would have essentially been flat (+79 units) if you remove the CLA and GLA numbers from last year and this year. Coincidentally, even when removing these numbers from this month's tally, Mercedes still bests BMW for January.

horrid market penetration + loss leading deals generates numbers...VW is trying to buy Audi into the market...too bad you pay Audi prices for Audi's vile quality/reliability.

Not that anyone on this site cares but the U.S.A.is Audi's 4 largest market & MB's largest. MB sells with massive incentives especially when

(Damn this site isn't M friendly) especially when the models are older.
That being said Audi needs to decide if they want to maintain the increase this year will they play the incentive game?
