2008 Audi R8 Teaser Shot

2008 Audi R8 Teaser Shot
Here is what looks like an official teaser shot for the Audi R8. The R8 will feature a reworked version of the RS4's V8 engine. It will come with more than 425 hp courtesy of a different intake and exhaust systems. It will also feature dry sump lubrication. It could have as much as 450 hp. The best thing is that you will be able to see the V8 engine without opening the rear hatch. The R8 will come with magnetic ride suspension. Grip will be provided by 19-inch wheels with the same contact patch as the Lamborghini Gallardo (235 front and 295 rear) The headlights will have LEDs built in for the Daytime Running Lights. It should come in at under 3,200 pounds. As you can see in the teaser shot there will be a panel behind the doors that could be ordered in a different color or in aluminum as in the Le Mans concept. The R8 will make its official debut on September 28 at the Paris Auto Show, but expect to see images of it earlier, as it will be shown to the public at its factory in Neckarsulm a day or two before the show. Mark your calendars.

I can't believe noone's commented on this!

An interesting fact about the new 911 Turbo: at 3,400lbs, which is more than the R8, and with 480hp (less than the R8 V10 by a margin), it outperforms even the Carrera GT, with 60mph arriving in as little as 3.4 seconds.

How Porsche attains this level of performance in a "budget supercar", I have no idea. But it gives me even more hope that the R8 will surpass the big boys in the never-ending race to the top.

Wow S4 I never thought of that. That is true the R8 will be 3,200 lbs. The V10 should have around 500-550 horsepower. The 911 Turbo is 3,400 lbs. and has only 480 horsepower.

and Logical thought that Audi wouldn't even clear 4 seconds on 0-60. Hahaha.....these specs should teach him a lesson.

I'm predicting even with the 911 turbo.

The reason that the 911 Turbo accelerates so quickly is because of all wheel drive. The Carrera GT while having a better power to weight ratio can't put the power down efficiently. The Carrera GT has a much better 1/4 mile acceleration, but to 60 mph it isn't any quicker because of lack of traction.

chewy-

So, basically, the R8 will be lightning-quick, too?

Oh and also...

I saw my first 997 911 Turbo in front of the Chicago Bentley dealership (the Bentley dealership has all ultra-sports/luxury cars, not just Bentley), and it's unbelievable. The LEDs are beautiful and it has the nicest wheels I've ever seen on a Porsche! I envy the guy who owns it!

But then I saw the V8 Vantage inside...

We are devoted to helping the brand increase its image.

It's funny, I'll soon be behind the wheel of Audi's biggest competitor (BMW) and still supporting Audi.

Yes the R8 will be very quick. Even the V8 version won't be far behind the Lamborghini Gallardo in acceleration.
