Chrysler Moving The Town And Country Upscale With $45,000 Price Tag
Those who are looking to buy a value-packed Dodge Grand Caravan had better hurry up. Time is running out because the minivan that literally gave birth to the segment will be discontinued for good. Its corporate sibling, the Chrysler Town & Country, will live on with a completely redesigned generation due to arrive for model year 2017. Why keep that and not the other? Because Chrysler charges more and therefore makes a larger profit on the Town & Country.

Sheer, unmitigated IDIOCY. I also hope it does not arrive with that Aztek-ugly side styling.

If it looks like that...they would have to pay me $45,000 to drive it. I'd rather walk. That thing is FUGLY!!!!

Ah. The article starts it in the mid $20's not a $45k price. Not that far away from an el strippo caravan. It will be competitive, if it looks better than this.

Relax everyone - this concept is from three years ago. Doubt the production version will look anything like it. As for the price, 45k is a lot for a mini van but not out of the ordinary. You can option up most of the current offerings to near that price point.

The point of the article is that FCA is ditching the low price Dodge minivan and going with the Chrysler fancier version at the higher price level (mid $30K to mid $40K). They're saying the lower price level can only deliver outdated technology and basic features. The car shown in the picture is just for illustrative purposes. I believe FCA is selling a lot of Dodge minivan because of the lower price. Their Town & Country are not doing as well when pitted against the Odyssey and Sienna. But hey, if FCA think they can live with a lower volume but better margin, power to them. This begs the question, who is going to step in to take care of the lower price minivan segment, or is the US going to force all those buyers to the CUV segment?

LOL! Chrysler should get ahold of the mailing list for the 247 people who bought GM's "Cadillac ELR" and see if they're interested in this $50k minivan.

The article says that they will start around @25,000

They start at $22,900 today - so that is only $2000 more - and it MUST include a rear backup camera standard next year. So the difference is not as great as it seems
