RUMOR: The Chevrolet Bolt CONCEPT To Hit PRODUCTION SOON? Conflicting Reports Stir Frenzy
According to a report from news agency Reuters, the Chevrolet Bolt that made an appearance at this year's 2015 Detroit Auto Show (NAIAS) may be making its way into showrooms sooner than expected. While General Motors' Chevrolet division seemed to be keeping details about the Bolt mum, someone may have spilled the beans.

"Sources" are saying that the Bolt will become a reality in October 2016. According to Reuters, the sources are suppliers.

This would be welcome news as the joke in the press room was "Yeah, the Bolt is great. You'll only have to wait until 2018 to get one."

Given that the concept's range is estimated at 200 miles per charge, it's already just shooting par for the course. Hopefully it will get a bump if it gets crystallized.

According to another publication who questioned GM's public relations team on the matter, the company said it is merely a concept and downplayed the rumor.

General Motors Co plans to begin building the Chevrolet Bolt, its all-new $30,000 electric car, in October 2016 at an underused small-car plant north of Detroit, two supplier sources said.

GM's production target for the Bolt is about 25,000 to 30,000 cars a year, the sources said.

It probably previews the next Sonic's direction too.

Dump the Volt. Focus on the Bolt.

Both are fine. Some have criticized the Bolt's range. The Bolt does not need amazing range if it is affordable which is where it seems GM is headed. I predict the new Volt will FLY out of dealers. It's no longer a rolling freak show and that's a good thing.
