SPIED: The Newly Revamped Lotus Evora Is SPOTTED For The FIRST Time — This Is Not A Hoax, I Swear!
These days it's tough being an independent auto manufacturer. Just about every company you can think of has been tied into another company. There are several properly independent manufacturers, but even they have alliances with other automakers.

That's just the way business works these days due to globalization and rigorous industry standards. If the smaller organizations didn't leverage partnerships, they'd be dead as a doornail.

One such organization is Lotus. It always seems to be dealing with the auto space's ebbs and flows. Somehow, the company has managed to keep trucking and although the future isn't crystal clear and bright, we do know the company is moving ahead with a revamped Evora. For me, this is fantastic news to hear.

When I had the chance to drive an Evora S, I walked away mightily impressed with the driving dynamics and experience. Of course it wasn't the highest quality car ever built, but I didn't expect that in the first place.

In this first series of spy shots, it's clearly an Evora — likely an S model — that's camouflaged head-to-toe. Everything that can be concealed is. I know the Evora's design quite well as I loved it when the car first debuted; however, I am struggling to find the differences in this mule over the existing product. I can tell the interior has some different bits and baubles here and there but that just about does it.

Hopefully the marque is working on a more powerful, efficient powertrain as well as a more substantial gearbox.

Do YOU see anything out of the ordinary here?

I wish Lotus well, but they need a convincing mainstream product that generates SALES.

People know that I like the temperamental TVRs that are barely a step up from being kit cars. I've never understood the attraction to Lotus. To each his own of course. I've had time behind the wheel and they are much better behaved than TVRs...yawn. Lotuses are at least street legal, but I cannot help but wonder what the V6 Ecoboost would do to an Evora.

Some will scream shrilly that is has "balance" like a Miata. Balanced sports cars are dull and if you know how to drive, unruly is a gas and a half.

Fingers crossed that Lotus produces a winner.
