DRIVEN + VIDEO: I Bet You Haven't Seen ANYONE Review The McLaren P1 Like THIS
As I've noted, much like a broken record, 2014 was the year of the supercar. The supercar battle, that is. With the Ferrari LaFerrari, McLaren P1 and Porsche 918 Spyder all making their long-awaited debuts, it was a busy year if you had a hankering for give or take 900 horsepower and a hybrid drive system.

Although it seems the Porsche is getting the most love of them all, the Ferrari and McLaren aren't far behind. That's because the McLaren is a technological tour de force and a feat of engineering. And then there's the geeky stuff, like the non-gloss carbon fiber – McLaren didn't want to increase the vehicle's weight, even if it was nominal.

But until today, I don't believe I've seen anyone actually go through the vehicle's systems quite like this. It actually makes you feel like you're taking delivery of an all-new P1.

Check out CNET's Brian Cooley as he does his thing here with the McLaren P1.

Not only does he go through the vehicle's systems, he also gives it a few laps around a road circuit. Note: while he has fun with it, note that this is a private owner's car that was generous enough to lend it out. Good on you!

Brian Cooley takes the McLaren P1 hybrid supercar out on the track and the street and checks the tech.

I think it's great that the P1's owner let his buddy at CNET test drive his ride.

When are we going to see a real comparo between this and the LaFerrari with numbers to back up driving impressions?

I have a strong feeling that Ferrari makes all LaFerrari owners sign a contract stating that they will never lend out their cars for the purpose of comparison tests:(

Hope someone out there has the balls to break it!

Didn't Top Gear get all three together?

I am sure that will be the big test of the season.

They did but Top Gear magazine not the TV show. I won't spoil what car won but no numbers and no Stig laps:( Don't think the show has tested them yet but hopefully I'm wrong.
