UAW Going For The Jugular With Detroit 3 - Demanding Raises, And More Lucrative Profit Sharing

UAW Going For The Jugular With Detroit 3 - Demanding Raises, And More Lucrative Profit Sharing
Stagnant wages are a symptom of America’s failing economy, says former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush, a leading contender for the Republican presidential nomination in 2016.

Bush’s remarks during a speech last week to the Detroit Economic Club are part of an unfolding discussion about income inequality and that will serve as the backdrop for this year’s contract negotiations between the United Auto Workers and Detroit’s automakers.

Since the 1930s, the UAW’s contracts with General Motors, Ford and Chrysler, now FCA US, have been enormously important for setting wage and benefits standards for autoworkers.

I believe we've seen this show before. It eventually led to GM and Chrysler going bankrupt.

(For pro-union readers: I am NOT asserting that the UAW single-handedly bankrupt GM and Chrysler. I believe they were just one of several factors that led to bankruptcy.)

(For pro-union readers: I AM asserting that the UAW was 75% responsible for bankrupting GM and Chrysler. I believe they were THE MAJOR factor that led to bankruptcy.)

You aren't bankrupt when you pay your CEO's $56 MILLION ~ that is of course unless you mean morally bankrupt !

Only a handful of people can run massive, global corporations like these car companies. These people are responsible for billions of dollars in equipment, and thousands of employees, as well as the products and abilities to sell in sometimes vastly different markets not to mention the legal issues. They are complex and hideously competitive... and pure idiots gripe about their compensation packages. Hmmm.... seems Actors, Athletes and Musicians vastly out earn all but a few corporate executives and no one seems to have an issue with the stoopid salaries they are paid. Why... well they are viewed as the best of the best. I think Actors are turds at best but they earn multi-millions to make crappy movies. How about Andy Dalton with Cincy Bengals, a $100M "decent" football player... Jerks that complain about what CEO's earn are simply that Jealous Jerks who like to put themselves on a plateau as they profess to speak for "the worker"... Get a life dirt bags!

Name a single Union Rat that could run one of these companies... or any union member? Most of them are lucky to have jobs. If you cannot earn a living in one job, TRAIN YOURSELF TO DO SOMETHING ELSE! Make a better life for YOURSELF! Unions are a cancer and destroy everything in their path.

No way should US auto workers make even close to what auto workers make in Germany and. Japan. We should keep the pressure on to get our wages closer to China so we can be competitive. Let's hope that TPP trade deal is quickly put in place before any radicals get organized and oppose it. Not sure what the ramifications are if we shove working labor wages (in all industries actually, working hard to push them down in IT, health care etc...) so low but we must move ahead....

These blood sucking socialists that rape workers of their hard earned money to fund the DeMoncrats have to get a Lousiville Slugger to the face.

China is the threat and the UAW needs to make massive CONCESSIONS if the USA is to remain a viable producer of cars.

I can't believe the naivety of those posting here. Blaming the Unions for managements mistakes.
The workers have paid their dues the Executives have taken their cut now it's time for the workers to get back some of what they have given.
You want to blame the workers because the companies cut corners and buy cheap parts or put out bad designs. If you think China is a threat to the US auto industry you need to do your home work on China and their labor problems. Then if you want to talk about European cars remember they are ALL Union made. Basically most of you ranting here are totally ignorant of the Auto Industry and Unions you just repeat lies you heard else where.
