#CAS15: GM Shows The New Equinox - Could This Company Get Anymore MEDIOCRE?
Behold the new Chevrolet Equinox!  Well that is at least what the PR department at GM would like you believe. After all with a clean slate and the desire to rise from the ashes of the bailout one might hope we would see some world class engineering coming out of Detroit in the aftermath.

After all the Chevrolet Corvette was one of those first total redesigns, and it is pretty obvious that the was an abundance of laser like focus and attention to detail rarely seen by such a large automaker.  So when the new Equinox was announced I was hoping to see a ground-breaking crossover capable of meeting the Japanese of their own terms.

Now after the official debut it might seem that GM is back to their old ways with possibly the most MEDIOCRE design in a long time. Why didn’t Chevrolet pull out all of the stops and go for the throat of the Japanese and German automakers? After looking this one over all we can say is the analysts may be right.

"GM is too slow and too generic to keep up with the competition."

Should we have expected more or were we wishfully dreaming?  Take a look below and ltell us there is a glimmer of hope.

HIDEOUS beyond compare. Thankfully the new Pilot is uglier.

No - it isn't even a car - it is a late cycle refresh CUV
Expect a lot of NEW Dashboards because rear backup cameras will be standard on all "cars" next year. May as well use that excuse to do a mild update.

However the replacement for the Equinox - which is rumored to be smaller - to allow a middle size CUV between it and the Larger Traverse - is due within two years as well. Probably some time after the new Cruze is released - since they share a platform.

So whats new about it? look boring as the other one.
The auto designers of today pretty much across the board are turning out bubble gum car designs bumpy and lumpy looking and not a whole lot of difference between brands GM, Ford, Kia....they all seem to look alike.
