OFFICIAL: Cadillac PRICES The All-New ATS-V — Will YOU Be Checking It Out OVER The M3/M4?
The all-new Cadillac ATS-V certainly has its fair share of competition. Sport sedans and sports cars have plenty of competition these days, however, the good news is that the more utilitarian versions are in greater demand thanks to consumers wanting to have as much flexibility as possible.

That's where the likes of the ATS-V and, say, BMW M3/M4 come into play.

This week GM's Cadillac division announced the pricing for the all-new Caddy. For an ATS-V sedan you're looking at $61,460* and for an ATS-V Coupe you're going to have to plonk down $63,660*.

To put things in perspective, the BMW M3 starts at $62,000* even and the M4 has a base price of $64,200*.

*These prices EXCLUDE title, taxes and fees.

Obviously, Cadillac decided NOT to offer it at a more aggressive discount. In fact, this pricing is very competitive. Of course the specs seem to put the V in a dead heat with the M3/M4 but we're a bit antsy to see if the driving experience will be just as good. The M3/M4 are really, really well done, high-performance machines.

Having said that, we're curious if the Caddy — with this pricing — will have you stopping by their dealer to consider it or will you just go straight to the Bavarians?

Cadillac's press release follows:

Cadillac Opens Ordering for 2016 ATS-V

Dual-purpose performance luxury compact designed for the track, touring

2015-02-10

DETROIT – Cadillac dealers have begun accepting orders for the 2016 ATS-V – the brand's inaugural luxury compact performance car starting production this spring.

Available in sedan and coupe forms, the twin-turbocharged ATS-V offers a dual-purpose luxury performance experience: a car with true track capability straight from the factory with sophisticated road manners.

Powered by the segment's highest-output six-cylinder engine – the Cadillac Twin Turbo rated at 455 horsepower (339 kW) and 445 lb-ft of torque (603 Nm) – the ATS-V achieves 0-60 performance in 3.9 seconds and a top speed of 189 mph. The Cadillac Twin Turbo engine is backed by a six-speed manual – with Active Rev Match, no-lift shifting and launch control – or a paddle-shift eight-speed automatic transmission featuring launch control and Performance Algorithm Shift.

"The V-Series is the ultimate expression of Cadillac's re-ignited product substance and the passion at the core of our brand," said Johan de Nysschen, Cadillac president.

"The ATS-V expands the V-Series lineup, bringing a new kind of performance character to Cadillac. Lightweight, agile and potent, the ATS-V will make an ideal pairing with the larger and even more powerful all-new 2016 CTS-V midsize sedan, which arrives later this summer," he said.

In the U.S., the 2016 ATS-V sedan carries a starting price of $61,460 and the ATS-V coupe is priced from $63,660. Consumers can order ATS-Vs now through dealers and begin specifying their own ATS-V online at www.cadillac.com in April.

Additional performance technologies built into the ATS-V include:
- Brembo high-performance brake system developed for track-day performance capability straight from the factory
- Third-generation Magnetic Ride Control, which delivers 40 percent faster damping response
- Integrated chassis controls that provide balanced performance for touring and the track, including class-exclusive Performance Traction Management
- Tri-compound tires offering excellent grip with extended tire wear
- Available downforce-generating track aerodynamics package
- Standard carbon fiber hood

An available Performance Data Recorder allows drivers to record high-definition video, with data overlays, of their driving experiences on and off the track, enabling sharing on social media.

More than just a desirable road car, the ATS-V will also become Cadillac's entrant into the world of motorsports. Even before the new car hits the showroom, Cadillac Racing's new ATS-V.R racecar will begin the Pirelli World Challenge GT 2015 season March 7-8 at the Circuit of the Americas in Austin, Texas. Cadillac Racing is the three-time defending manufacturer's and driver's champion in the series, which features legendary marques such as Audi, Ferrari and Porsche.

The ATS-V will be assembled at the Lansing Grand River assembly plant in Michigan.

Editors' note: Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price excludes tax, title, license, dealer fees and optional equipment.

You pay, 61,460 dollars or 62,000 dollars(which is only 2200 dollars cheaper than an M3/M4) just to buy this chick car.

Wow. It's actually pretty interesting how the Americans just are never able to get how business even works. I mean, who is going to pay that much money and get an ATS-V? When there are Jaguar F-Type and an M4 (Which are far superior status symbols, not to mention they are far better engineered. That's the power of Europe)

Seriously, wow.

Not to mention this is an "American" car.

You are kidding yourself if you think you can get a desirable M3/M4 under 75k. Go to bmwusa.com and build your own. And no matter how much I spend, I can't get a ventilated seat in the bimmer, which maybe makes me sound like a pussy, but I'm spoiled at this point and this desert heat makes it an absolute necessity. The last CTS-V was a great car. The only problem I can see right now is the headrests, which was a problem with the last-gen CTS-V as well. It's angled too far forward and the lack of adjustability is a major let down and makes finding a comfortable seating position a near impossibility. Vs usually come loaded or nearly so, with little options to raise the price, so this is a good value I think.

A) you can absolutely get a desirable M3/M4 for less than $75k, and

B) the ATS-V does not come loaded. Navigation isn't even standard for the $63k base price. It is standard in the M3/M4 though.

it doesnt bother me that its american, i think its a great car, but for nearly the same price, i think its a no brainer, ill take an m3/4 over the caddy any day !
the caddy needed to be 62k loaded to the max and the bmw goes near 78k the way i like it equipped ..

I think American cars have come a long way and are competitive with the Germans, but they do not have the reputation/resale/status etc… the German cars will have at this point in time. I think if they would have priced it at around 55=57 for the sedan and 56-58 for the coupe that would have helped a lot of potential buyers get over that hump and try the ATS-V. Let's see if they end up in that range for real world pricing in 12-18 months. I really do hope it is as good as it seems to be and can give a real fight to the Germans as they have had it their way for so long (even with me :) and it would be good to have some real competition. Now if we can convince the Japanese and Koreans to join the fray.

The Koreans hired the former BMW M chief, and now Lexus RC-F is quite a machine.

And I'd much prefer to drive an RC-F than this trash. I bet this ATS-V will fail everyday, like how the Corvette and Z06 both have their engines failed almost every week. It would be quite embarrassing to have this car and then get stranded.

Great post! @valhallakey

These are concerns for folks who consider autos an investment — even if it is almost always a losing investment — but I did enjoy the last-gen CTS-V over the E60 M5 and E63 AMG.

Let's see if the company can replicate that certain American greatness again. Will be much tougher this time since BMW got the M3/M4 pretty right.

I think the prices are reasonable. All these high performance cars have more speed and handling talents than 99% of drivers can use. For me tho, i'd go with the C63 AMG. When you spend that kind of change on a car, being fast is not enough, it must sound the part. To me, there is no replacement for the intoxicating and emotional sounds that AMG extracts from their V8s, sounds that a V6 or inline 6 just can't match, and that alone, is the deal breaker for me

Cadillac?? You must be kidding. It is a rebadged Chevy. Ha, ha ha haaaaa haaa.

GM = GREAT MISTAKE

Not a fan of this at all...especially with all these crappy clos-up shots. The design looks like something from 10 years ago...and if you want to call it evolutionary, well, it's evolved into something not at all pleasant to look at.

GM = General Motors...and that real name says it all...just 'general' motors...nothing great.

These V cars matching the price of their German counterparts makes more sense than the non-V versions.
