#NYIAS: CONFIRMED! Mitsubishi Officially Says It Will Be Bringing The 2016 Outlander To The BIG Apple
Mitsubishi is in the midst of trying to turn around a sinking ship. But, where to start? Do you bail out the water or do you try change the course of direction.

In the automotive world, it's super difficult and we tip our hats to the brand for doing whatever it can to stay relevant.

According to a company-issued release for the 2015 Chicago Auto Show, the Japanese automaker will be bringing the 2016 Outlander to the 2015 New York Auto Show. While the GC-PHEV Concept that is seen below is set to usher in the brand's new direction, the Outlander is the first production model to actually show us what to expect.

See the critical paragraph here:

"We brought the Concept GC-PHEV to Chicago because it showcases into our future technology and design themes," said MMNA Executive Vice President, Don Swearingen. "The Concept showcases aggressive styling and a level of refinement that will be coming to Mitsubishi vehicles. All of our 2016 model year vehicles will be refreshed with our new brand identity, starting with the 2016 Outlander, which will make its world premiere at the New York International Auto Show in April. The Concept GC-PHEV continues to tell the story we started telling at the LA Auto Show, and we think you're going to like what is to come."

We hope the 2016 Outlander is good. Mitsubishi doesn't have the chance to fail if it wants to live.

Making ugly SUVs isn't the ticket. Mitsubishi has a way of killing success. They had two generations of the Eclipse that import tuners loved and sales were good, so of course they replaced it with larger, matronly coupe with the Eclipse name on it then replaced that with an even larger, bulbous thing called an Eclipse.

Letting the Galant wither was dumb. Ditto how they have not advanced the Lancer.

Killing the EVO was moronic to hell and back.

The Mirage is a hellish thing to drive.

Maybe Mitsibishi should just pack it in here and go away once and for all.

The catch is that, every Mitsubishi vehicle that they have right now is still far superior to anything America produces.

I used to have an Outlander, which was an amazing vehicle to say the least.

Actually no. Mitsubishi durability is quite lacking and Ford and GM are quite good.

My Outlander's reliability was excellent, and many people on Edmunds' consumer reviews wrote the same thing.

And then you try something like Ford or GM, and you get stranded. When I get stranded, it's always American.

I mean, Corvette's engine blows up every week, and their small/midsize SUVs have too many problems. How is this "quite good"?

My sister-in-law's 2013 Lancer is the biggest pile I have ever seen. I have no idea why she bought it over other great cars in the segment, the interior is already falliing apart. I love how Mitsubishi forced sought after features into it. For example, the keyless engine start requires you to awkwardly twist a knob where the key would normally go.

I swear I drew that same exact truck when I was in 2nd grade.

How in the world does Mitsubishi stay in operations? Granted, they increased their sales by almost 25% from 2013 to 2014, but that still only equated to total of 77k units moved in 2014. That's about how many Camrys and Accords were moved in any given single quarter. As jeffgall stated, why would anyone choose a Mitsu over anything else in their respective class, outside of huge incentives? Are the dealers on food stamps at this point?

A quick google search of "Mitsubishi Outlander Reviews" contradicts your claims of glowing reviews. Sure, I bet you can find some owners that think it's great but people say weird things to justify their purchases and kbb, consumer reports, car and driver etc... don't seem to think as highly of it. As for you getting stranded in all these domestics... Why do you keep buying them then? Me personally, I've never been stranded in any of my vehicles. Foreign or domestic. I maintain them properly as well so maybe that has something to do with it. I put a lot of miles on them as well so... Not buying it.
