RS Q3 Vs. GLA 45 AMG - Can Audi's High Performance Diesel Overpower AMG's 4 Cylinder Turbocharged Wonder?

Some things in life I find hard to see the point of: ties, Brussel sprouts and The Daily Mail being three such unfathomable entities. To that list, I was thinking of adding the Mercedes-Benz GLA 45 AMG and Audi RS Q3.

The reason for my cogitations was that within the confines of a simple classification, a slightly jacked-up hatchback with seating for four, or five at a push, and a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine, and a small SUV with a 2.5-litre five-cylinder motor are perfectly acceptable creations, even if a diesel engine might be more sensible.

GLA45, easily.

"So what to make of them? Well, the Audi is the nicer thing. It’s more cohesive and well presented with a characterful engine that provides this small SUV with more power than a Porsche Boxster."

"Ultimately, I’d have the RS Q3 as I think it would be the easiest car to live with, but after a few days in each I still hadn’t really worked out why 45-grand cars like this exist."

That's why Audi excels in the compact segment. It creates cars that are easy to live with and provide all the speed and luxury you would need. Mercedes-Benz's CLA and GLA are new attempts by the brand to go down-market and you can tell that Mercedes-Benz has left them a little rough around the edges.

Yes, and Camrys are "nice" and "easy to live with", too.

Of course the Audi won. Can't honestly remember a Mercedes beating an Audi in a comparison test.

The heading is incorrect, the Audi RS Q3 is not a diesel motor, its a 2.5 turbo charged petrol engine
